Hi, I'm now posting this here because I've posted this on GD and kept bumping it now and then for a few months now and there still has not even been the slightest of recognition from a red, so now I am posting it here.

UPDATE: As Shaco's rework has been confirmed to have been pushed back with no given date, it is safe to assume it is not coming anytime soon. Until then, SHACO NEEDS LOVE. Maybe even something small but he needs something.

Hello there, to anyone currently reading this. As you may or may not know, Shaco is currently being worked on by Riot... Which may or may not be a good thing, but like every other Shaco main, I'm praying that it's a good thing. However, due to Riot's lack of being able to see Shaco's REAL issues in past changed where they have only beaten him with the nerfhammer, there are a few things about each of his abilities that could use slight changes with this rework. I acknowledge the fact that nothing has been released on Shaco's rework as of yet, but these points are made considering that Shaco's kit will not be drastically different than it is now. If anything, Riot, you might be able to take these as reminders of minor fixes/tuneups shaco's kit needs as his coding seems to be a little stale compared to today's standards. Please consider atleast some of these.

First and foremost, Shaco is one of most squishy champs in the game, which makes sense... but it is also a big contributor to his failure as a champion. These days the jungle is much too beastly for a squishy like shaco and he get melted with something as menial as AoE in teamfights. While he does need to maintain the squishy assassins aspect, very slight base stat buffs to his defenses wouldn't hurt anyone.

Q - Decieve: (OPTIONAL)

While the range nerfs to this ability kinda hurt at first, they weren't so bad once we got used to them... But there's a couple walls that you can still get over BUT only at a certain angle. This is frustrating because just having your mouse cursor a little off messes you up. *I think this problem could easily be fixed by increasing Deceive's range by a small amount (between 25-50 maybe).

W - Jack-In-The-Box: (REQUIRED)

This is the ability that allows Shaco to jungle. It's also seen many nerfs due to the toxicity of abusing them to make insta-gib Shacbox Nests. While these nerfs may be justifiable, the boxes are plagued with bad mechanics and stupidly low health late-game. With the new preseason jungle changes, around the second and third batch of jungle buffs (7-ish mins and 13-ish mins), Shaco still relies on his boxes to tank, yet the boxes get 1 shot! This causes Shaco to miserably stock up on health potions and chug them more than any other jungler. Not to mention the fact that with the randomness of the fear, often the boxes begin to focus small monsters, screwing Shaco even further (Since the fear changes in a recent patch, the boxes sometimes fear the buff out of their own range). An easy fix to these problems: Jack-In-The-Boxes now have 3 hit health bars similar to Zyra plants and now either prioritize the target Shaco is attacking or the lowest health nearby enemy champion if Shaco is not attacking any target within range. If neither of these conditions is met, the box acts as it does currently.

E - Two-Shiv Poison:

Will not comment on this as it has been confirmed as one of the main focuses of the upcoming rework, and Riot seems to have something different entirely planned for this ability.

R - Hallucinate: (REQUIRED)

This ability is part of what makes Shaco, The Demon Jester what he is. Hallucinate works perfectly with Shaco's theme of being a crazed clown killer from your worst nightmares as it really adds to the confusion and murder of it all. This ability has almost limitless uses, and is really what boosts Shaco's skill-cap through the roof. Not only is it one of the few abilities in the game which require tons of practice to use efficiently, the more finesse and trickery a Shaco player uses with his clone out, the more rewarding the ability becomes. You can literally mind**** people with this ability if your micro is good enough, but UNFORTUNATELY this ability is also plagued with bad coding and issues.

First and foremost, the lack of jungle buffs displaying on the clone has been complained about time after time... and while Riot insists this is "counter-play", it's really not as it doesn't help a smart player determine which Shaco is real... It literally hangs a sign a flashy, neon sign around Shaco's neck that screams to even the newest of players, "AHEUAEHUE LOOK AT ME. I'M THE REAL SHACO. HOPE I DIDN'T TRICK YOU!" This exact reason is why I like to call jungle buffs, "jungle debuffs" when I play Shaco, as it's just outright bad for the Shaco. A skilled player can already tell which is the real Shaco from item actives and abilities, so why not just leave the counter-play at being quick witted enough to spot things like that?

Secondly, the clone needs to do something when Shaco dies. The most logical answer being its exploding as soon as Shaco dies. I see this as the most logical because why should it be totally useless and why should the Shaco player be allowed to keep chasing and attacking someone even after he dies? The clone exploding would allow Shaco to pick up some kills from very close or unfortunate fights where RNG just maybe didn't go his way and would also give enemy players some way to get away such as flashing or moving away before the explosion instead of being chased by a clone that can slow.

I also know they are planning to change the ult quite a bit, so let's just assume it remains somewhat similar to what it is now when looking at these QoL changes.

That just about sums up my opinion on things that need to change on Shaco. Once again these changes are assuming Shaco or at least some aspect of him will remain somewhat similar to now, and if anything maybe Riot can get at least one useful idea out of this thread.

i think your proposed changes are nice but i have to say outright...

WHAT IN THE **** RITO

His e is the element of his kit that needs the LEAST change.

His Q it would be awesome to have the old range back or at least inc it a bit like you said (and have the crit buff actually last 6 seconds like the toolbar says, right now it lasts 1 second after stealth ends... making like 3 seconds grand total).

His W is terrible right now. Almost every champ can one shot these past level 11, they are basically worthless in the jungle past level 6 except as wards, the fear mechanic both before AND after changes is terrible, the ap ratio is UNDERSTANDABLY terrible (I do however miss occasional troll sessions with box-bushes...), and compared to the other melee with a fear (Nocturne for those of you who didn't know), you cannot ever really rely on a JITB fear which lasts .5 seconds IF the enemy gets hit with it, where as Noct's lasts for like 2.25 seconds at rank 5... and has a speed boosts ability AND longer range than flash/most dashes to keep the tether active.

His E is good. it helps jungle, it inspires fear in enemy champs (free slow or a dagger to the back...). Honestly what would make this PERFECT is nerfing the ratio/base dmg and adding a %missing hp dmg bonus to it... Fitting in with the assassin role AND giving us shaco players more reason to dagger toss than just Q to them and finish with crit and slow/autos.

His R is also terrible in execution, perfect AND amazing in theory. Basically everything you said, the clone should be an EXACT copy of Shaco (well, with reduced dmg done and more dmg taken) from items to buffs. This ability (probably unintended but) can be used to block damage from abilities/ignite by learning to time its activation (Ha, screw you Karthus!) It also gives shaco a MASSIVE presence boost and makes split pushing even better.

Focus is on his e.... Omgqtfbbqrito I HOPE MUNDO COMES FOR YOUR HEADS!
