Veigar, the misunderstood champion

You have all been there. Maybe around level 13 or 14. Few months into playing League and your hooked. Decide you want to play mid as an actual mid laner. Then you go face to face with a Veigar. "Oh, he's not to bad, really slow, small range, I can take him." 20 minutes in and he's 3 shoting you. It was there that I decided to pick up Veigar, and let me tell you, he is by far my favorite champ. Sure, competitive play wants people with more sustain, more early lane aggression. But I tell you, play him right and you can still win, even against a Ryze.

People just see Veigar at his base. He has piss poor movement speed, a auto attack which could be likened to throwing a cotton ball at someone, and the range of a disabled monkey. But look at his abilities. Every minion and monster kill he gets with his Q gives an extra point of AP. At max ranks, his Q's passive gives him an extra 5 AP per champ kill, not to mention that it scales 60% off of his AP. His W...100% scaling off of his AP. I have dropped ADC's to half health with just his W. E= the longest single stun in the game. Sure, at max range Ashe's arrow keeps them stunned longer, but that's only if it hits. Veigar stuns for 2.5 seconds every time he catches someone at max rank. And his ultimate, the bane of every APC in the game. 120% scaling plus does 80% of targets max AP in extra magic damage. Teemo's drop like a sack of rocks. His stun has great range, but that does take skill to land. His W may feel like a skill shot at first, but after landing the stun and pulling off that combo, it doesn't even feel like im trying. Some of my greatest games have been played on Veigar, and he deserves the love, even if he will never see the light of competitive play. So, if your looking for a new AP for the mid lane, try out Veigar. He's tricky at first, but if you get him down, he is so much fun.

You're totally right, Veigar is awesome, but he needs a few tweaks and a visual update. My only problem, the only reason I don't play him, is Annie is similar (minus the exponential AP) and has a better kit, she also has cooler skins.

Played him back when i was just starting the game - i remember it distinctly because i'd tried cho gath, volibear, and karthus by that point and was beginning to think that i just hated LoL. Picked up veigar just cause he reminded me of the black mage in Final Fantasy - LOVED that little bugger. way too much fun, rock on!

veigar falls into that class of short range burst mages like annie and syndra. champs that i have never really played.

i hated veigar back in the day. hell i think i picked up lux and xerath because of champs like him.

his stun is the key. if you can land that consistently. then you're golden.

I'm a Veigar enthusiast, and while he's fun and deadly, he is very easy to shut down in the mid lane. There are a good selection of mid champs you can counter pick with, and nothing says "You Lose" quite like your opponent rushing Merc Treads.

His visuals, voices, and abilities are fine as is, but if you must change something, update his passive. It's only decent when you are OoM, but then you have no kit, just a Q.

And now I'm gonna play yet another game as my main man Veig.
