Boots of Mobility: Feedback and Suggestions
You know... I'm not quite sure I like the design of BoM to begin with. The movespeed boost out of combat is certainly appreciated but... Well, let me use an example.
I main the support. More and more I find myself roaming between lanes to ward objectives or assist another lane while my ADC is away. Thing is, this comes with a risk, namely running into the enemy jungler on warding runs. On more than one occasion, I've happened upon an enemy jungler counter-jungling or positioning for a gank. Well, okay, I ruined their gank, but now I have a blood thirsty jungler after me. Given that I usually have some form of CC, I can usually react in time to throw down my slow or knock back or whatever it is I have, and run away as fast as I can. BoM's passive proc has literally saved my life multiple times because my base speed was JUST enough (usually very nearly equal to or less than the enemy's) for me to stay out of reach for 5 seconds. While convenient for me, I can see why the jungler might be a little miffed when his free kill suddenly gained +60 movespeed and got away. Alternatively, without my base speed, I just became free fodder because I took the ONE pair of boots that didn't have 45 base MS.
That's not fair, in my opinion. I could see the current changes being justifiable, however, if BoM's movespeed ramped up over time, instead of a sudden speed burst after 5 seconds. Is that unreasonable? Have the base speed stay 25 and have it ramp up over a few seconds to 105 when not actively receiving or dealing damage? (Ex: Base 25, over 6 seconds ramps up to 105. Move speed boost is reset upon taking or inflicting damage.) The ramp up effect would be constant, or could be disabled for a shorter duration, say 2 seconds, when giving/taking damage.
Note: The math on the proposed ramp up would be a gain of 13.33 MS per second, taking 1.5 seconds to ramp up to 45 MS. Alternatively, if the ramp up took 8 seconds, that's 10 MS per second and 2 seconds to reach 45 MS.
Repost of mine from a different topic. I'd like to be part of the solution, and not the problem. In that context, discussion on the idea, or some of your own?
