so when I first started playing Skarner he still had the built in cdr on his passive, the ultra slow on his q, and his e healed him. in my opinion the first bad thing they did was take away his heal, Skarner as a tank doesn't have the high damage mitigation that other tanks do because he has the armor gain from his w and because he could heal damage (with a little bit of cdr and atck spd he could heal quite fast without having to get life steal or spell vamp.) this kit was a really good kit and put Skarner in a really good place. when they moved the slow from his q to his e, it became harder to stick to people which a tank should and he lost a lot of survivability because they took away his heal. now he is completely reliant on cdr to get his stun off as much as possible but in the six seconds after stunning someone he seems to be dead because he does no damage, I have played him tank, AD, AP, and hybrid this last week, if he tanks he doesn't die to fast or anything but he also poses no threat and isn't bothered, if he is ad you finally have sustain but your damage output is so low that he can't kill other AD champs like Panth and Garen, if you go the ap route you get some higher damage from more things but you have to build a sheen first and risk being useless in team fights until you have your first big item. I loved the old Skarner. I loved how well his kit worked and I find that his original kit was much more viable (maybe some number tweaks) than his current state.
