[Idea] Summoner spell Halt

RadioatvDeathbat··1 votes·527 views

With all the complaints about champs with high mobility (LeeSin Lucian Kassadin Yasuo etc), What if there was a summoner spell that stopped dashes, ward hops, flashes etc?

Halt Prevent movement abilities (following the same rules as snare but without preventing movement) and slows the target 30% for 2.5 (and remove slow fromsummoner 3 )

i'd keep exhaust the way it is but i like the "halt" summoner skill but i'd imagine it be called something like impediment or something similar since you aren't actually halting them but impeding their ability to use ... well abilities

Don't remove the slow from exhaust, and I would be on board.

I think instead of forcing the opponents to give up a summoners spell to kill these champions, one should make mobile champions give up THEIR power in exchange for their mobility, like having a glaring weakness they need to compensate for.

oh, you mean things like making them melee like kassadin, gragas and yasuo? or making them the adc with the smalest range like lucian? or maybe, maybe you mean making them blind like lee sin?? I think there are already a variety of ways to counter them and you dont really need to add more to it, but I'd say that the halt spell idea isnt so horrible.

It will add a balance point. Halt will be balanced around the most mobile champions and the most mobile champions will be balanced around halt.

This is the exact case with healing and grievous wounds currently. Dr. Mundo is balanced around getting ignited when he is ulting. If he is, his ultimate still has to feel good. However, if he isn't and he ults, his ultimate is insane, you NEED to apply grievous wounds to kill an ulting Mundo.

The same thing could happen with halt, where both the halt and mobility are overtuned, so if you get halted, you feel bad, but if you don't, you get to run free every time. If you don't overtune halt, it's just a very bad summoner spell and ignite will be superior.

A last point, these champions could just take cleanse and completely negate halt (doesn't work for Dr. Mundo because cleanse does not cleanse the grievous wounds part from ignite, only the damage).

I kind of agree with what you just said, I was simply disagreeing with the part where you say

one should make mobile champions give up THEIR power in exchange for their mobility, like having a glaring weakness they need to compensate for.

They do already each have a "glaring weakness" that they need to compensate for. But the reason why highly mobile champions are highly praised is not that they have no weakness, it really is just because their mobility scales very well with one's skill and provide great potential to people that are able to use it. Yet theses champs have lower win rates (Kassadin 46%, lee sin 46%, Zed 46%, Yasuo 49%) than champs like amumu(56%) Brand (53%) Fiddlesticks(53%).

That's because high mobility champions are high risk/high reward champions that do not consistently pay off while some lower mobility champions provide with more reliability while having a smaller snowball potential. You'll agree that feeding 3 kills to a kassadin before 10 minutes is generally scarier than the doing so for an amumu with the same skill level, right? Because the amumu will simply jump in and ult for his team to destroy yours no matter what and if that doesnt work you win, regardless of a 1k gold lead. But such lead on a kassadin means your squishies get nuked before the know Kass was there.

So yeah I thought of that and I dont think that a halt summoner spell would really balance the game anyhow better than it is right now. You kinda justify for this as if it was going to be the only possible counterplay. I think that wining the vision game and having some kind of team coordination/cooperation is really what can completely shut down such champions. Except for Lucian. Lucian is just OP no matter what. Nerf that kid.
