Beowitz's Champion Discussion V1: All about the E's (Leona/Jarvin IV/Lucian

Hello All, I’d like to start by stating that I’m not an extremely experienced player or anything, I haven’t even been with the game for a year yet, But I’m here to present my thoughts on a few champions and ways they can be changed (for better and or worse). Maybe everything I say will have a flaw or I’ll suggest something bad, and that’s fine, the idea is more to strike up conversation on the topic, maybe make a good call, maybe learn something more about the game and better myself. So please join the conversation.

Leona: As I’ve heard, seen, and experienced a lot. Leona is an all in champion. What that also means is that you have to play pretty cautiously, or dying. You can’t throw off your E randomly at enemies, cause if it hits you’re point blank in their faces which can mean you get piled on and die. In playing Leona your team has to be really ready to dive on in with you when you go on. And when you’re not you can’t do too much because all your other non-ult abilities are also pretty short ranged. All being said, I actually really like Leona (though I play for team Diana), I just feel it’s bad that she can only assist by going straight in. Also I’ve seen LCS players get caught in an enemy group without her teammates backing her up so she just gets blown away. So I can only imagine how many times that happens when playing with random people who you have a much harder time communicating with.

My proposed change here is to make her E mark the enemy instead of immediately dashing into them. And you can press E again to dive in (similar to lee sin’s). I was thinking the mark time could be between 1-1.5 seconds. The goal of it isn’t to put that fear of her diving in, it’s to allow her to have a slight bit of ranged poke without forcing her to dive straight into bad situations all the time. If that itself would be too good, how about that to dive in after marking the enemy you must be within the same range (875) to dive in.

Jarvin IV: Simply put my thought on jarvin is that it feels bad to have to use your E+Q to travel throughout the jungle. Many other junglers can pass through the terrain with one skill.

My proposed change is to give the synergy he has with his Q when it touches his E be an thing he can use simply with his E (it having a second cast that would pull him towards the flag)

Lucian: I don’t really have much here for Lucian, I just was thinking on him and how he’s pretty good and Riot is looking into ways to slim him down a little bit, and this is more thematic then anything, but Braum can’t ward hop, which I actually really like as a little intricacy that fits with his theme.

Lucain’s E is called Relentless Pursuit. But that’s not what it is mechanically. It’s a mobility skill. Thematically it should only be able to dash towards enemies. I have no concrete method of making this work in game. The best Idea I have right now is if maybe it splits into two sections (forward and back, left/right?) and he can only use the dash if there’s an enemy unit within a certain distance (975? His attack range plus his E’s range) but then he could dash like normal, but only under those circumstances. It would have less usability to retreat from an enemy (though you could still do it if there were enemies on your other side) what it really would prevent are jungle escapes. I fear though that this might really hurt his mobility too much maybe? I also realize there could be other champions with moves that don’t thematically fit, I was just around for all the Braum stuff, and I noticed Lucians.
