My Problems With Vel'koz

I have two problems with the new champ on pbe, Vel'koz. First, his ult is too overpowered imo. In combination with his passive, it can easily deal 1250 damage, almost without any ap. Secondly, his recommended items seem off to me. I have little mana problems with him early, and i dont need a chalice until later in the game. Just my two cents though. I would love it if someone would comment and tell me why they agree/disagree with me.

I find that Vel'koz's ult is super powerful yes, but he can be cc'ed out of it rather easily. And yeah if you are the one being hit then the odds of you being able to run out of the ult before the user can turn the beam is fair in my opinion .-.

His ultimate is strong coupled with his passive, but only really in conjunction with a slow or any other movement impairment. I've found mobile champions have an easy time dodging his ultimate. Very first game against a Vel'koz, every time he would skirmish with our Karma, he was able to use his shields' mobility to completely render his laser useless. The turn speed on his ultimate is abysmal.

The only thing off in his recommended build is chalice, his mana usage doesn't justify buying one. His abilities right now is a bit buggy, with comparison of his animations and hit radii of his Q. Seems to be inconsistent with his Q particles and when his Q actually hits he target(When it splits).

I agree with the assessment of his ult, it has too much range, too much damage, it can be repositioned far too easily. one or two people have brought up the cc counter, but considering the fact that any self respecting vel'koz player will either A) focus the beam on you until you're dead or near dead or B) activate it from a distance that is entirely safe from cc, it's not much by way of fairness.
