A brief talk about Vladimir.

So before season 4 rolled out, we were told the changes to Spectral Wraiths spellvamp would result in "Vladimir having his own spellvamp item". As a serious Vladimir player, I would like to know where Riot is with this as I am hesitant to start playing ranked without him having a viable item for him to use. The new WoTA gives mana regen which I feel makes it an inefficient pick for him. With Spectral Wraith, it was cheaper and gave him more utility for farming camps and regen. So what are the plans for a spellvamp item for him and other manaless mages?

Wota is meant to be the spellvamp item for him. The old Spectral Wraith gave mana regen too; it's still gold efficient without it, and spellvamp will always be more efficient on manaless champs so giving it mana regen is a good countermeasure.

I think Riot is afraid of giving any item to buff Vladimir too much because he can be really frustrating to fight if he's too strong.

Yeah adding a Spellvamp item that only gives Spellvamp and AP would be too powerful on Vlad or Mordi. it seems kind of silly to force them to waste money paying for many regen from WotA but with how well Vlad scales from AP and Spellvamp he gets more from both stats then most champs, it more then makes up for the lost money for the mana regen, especialy now that you are not paying for that aura anymore. then most champs

If they were to build a manaless Spellvamp item, it would basically have the exact same stats and costs of current WotA...minus the mana regen. Why?

Because Spellvamp is a much more useful stat on champions who are only restricted by Health as their resource in the long term.

I completely agree with you buying mana regen feels like a poor choice whenever I buy it on Vlad or Mord, but I alos agree with the previously said comments that it is a good countermeasure. Also, have you considered spell vamp Quints? It's only 6%, but that's actually a lot when you take into account that's half of a revolver at lvl 1.

Apologies if that's stupid question, I don't know how far you've gone with Vlad. :)

Thanks for the replies. The way they phrased it in the patch notes when changing spectral wratih, was that he would be getting his own item/morde and others who use health as resource, not that WoTA would be tweaked into his item. I guess it is gold efficient, just feels wasteful. The spellvamp is kind of good idea, but I generally run HP or AP quints on him since I top with him mostly. Worried about new Doran's Shield changes, but we'll see. Thanks for the comments, maybe I'll start playing him again S4.
