Sona Mid - Discuss

Lately I have been having a lot of fun playing Sona as an AP mid. I was wondering what the general feeling in the forums was regarding this unusual choice.

Naysayers will be given maximum consideration and a well thought out reply. Not trying to start a flame war, just trying to ping the population for opinions!

My two cents is that while she may not match the raw damage of most other mids, she provides undeniable utility to the team, and in blind pick you will usually catch someone off their guard which leads to a very rewarding experience.

I used to Mid Sona back when locket was around and you could build Sona into a tanky little spell machine so I can't say I've never thought about it.

The way this casual fan sees it, while Sona might be able to mid, it just seems like 99% of the time you'll get a lot more out of putting her in a duo lane and helping you carry reach their maximum potential. The power she can get in mid doesn't seem like it would benefit the team as much as well protected and later well fed carry. Besides since her abilities can typically effect two people at a time, you are really only getting 50% of her potential going mid. Maybe things will be different if her aura's scale with AP after they put the season 4 changes in and a well fed Sona will just turn her whole team into an unstoppable wrecking ball but as it stands now I'm having trouble envisioning an optimal Sona mid scenario but maybe a pro tier player might know something I don't about Sona.

lololol sona mid lichbane stoopid strong xD i scored a quadra one day after i was like 5 kills deep on the annie, i burst her down, jungle came and dive me , NAHT TUDAI , dodge jinx ult by a cunt hair coming from bot(my red jungle) direction, by this time i was trying to recall at my second turret blitz comes from red jung i dodge his hook boom boom he down jinx shows her face dodge her zap boom boom QUADRAKILL LOLOLOL good times, i find shes good against certain champs you cant play her mid against people who have range on you but theres a select few that if you are able to have the range and positioning to poke people in you can snowball rediculous( not many people play her like this but i feel i can give away that lich secret because season 4 is retuning her to be a more rounded support and less bursty so rush that lich while its still viable wicked fun)

i just see her being very burstable. you'd have to build lich bane for sure as she only has 2 damagy spells. i've heard of worse ideas.

i imagine most people would call you a troll though. you should try it when team builder comes out
