Getting 5 points per win? Aint nobody got time for that!

Well actually, that's probably not true, but I for one don't have time for that. I was just in Silver II recently and climbed out of it into Silver I. During my time in Silver II, I was getting around 15-20 LP per win. Of course, I was losing about the same when I lost, but it still was much faster to climb up the ladder. But now, I have to spend MORE time to get into my promo, because I win 5-10 points per win and lose about the same, and on top of that, I STILL need to win 3/5 promo games, AND win those in order to get to Gold V, which is a lot of time spent playing, and there is just not enough time in the week for League anymore, which is cool with me. But trying to get up into a higher ranking just seems like so much work now, and League is my relax, happy fun time, so it's not as fun losing a game knowing it won't even matter if you win the next one because it'll take forever anyway to climb. So, for people who enjoy spending most of their free time with a good game of League, playing long, grueling hours, dedicating much of their time and effort to get as high as Plat or Diamond, I say, keep Summoning Summoners. (cheesy, I know) I do, however, feel bad for these Summoners because it shouldn't be so hard to climb up the ladder. Climbing a ladder should be easy, and when you think about how high the League ladder goes, you'd think the system would be easier for those who show skill and promise. Just a thought, and I've heard the reasons behind why the system is the way it is, but I still think that the rewards for climbing the ladder are very low for those who like to casually play ranked, giving little to no incentive to play ranked other than that it's fun. And I suppose that's ok with me. Just my 2 cents on the matter, more like a rant really. Just needed to get it off my chest.

It is easy for those who show skill and promise to climb tier 1. When I played on my smurf acc I was gaining as much lp in tier 1 as any other tier. Thats because I won so much and lost so little the system recognized me as being too skilled for that tier. You however have not been on huge winning streaks and therefore need to prove your skill to proceed.

I do not feel like the leaderboards should be easy to climb, that would defeat the purpose of it all. Really you are just annoyed or sad or something because you wont have enough time to climb to the next rating before the season ends. That is not a problem with how fast you climb in the current system, that is a problem with you leaving it until the last minute. Now if you were trying all year and couldn't climb to the next rating then what makes you think you deserve to get it just because time is about to run out?

well it's all relative isn't it? i've always looked at league as a game with a steep learning curve. it takes a lot of experience to be good at this game. beyond just amazing reaction times. you develop mechanics and micro over time. i'm not saying anyone can become a pro. but i doubt there are many pro's who pick up this game quickly without some kind of background in RTS or other moba games, which also require hours and hours of play and practice to improve.

i think the incentive to play ranked is there. but there are far too many people who don't take it competitively because of the things that you state. when i play ranked i only play the champs i'm most comfortable on. that said, from the sounds of it. a lot of the pro's have played thousands of games on one champion apiece. krepo on anivia for example. hotshot on nidalee. they play A LOT. at a certain point that's the only way you succeed. i actually think that teambuilder will help a lot with training. allowing players to play a single champion day in day out if they want.

I feel you man. I feel bad that I screwed my chances to hit Gold. I had been gaining 20-30~ lp a win all the way from Silver III that I placed into up to my promos for Gold, but I lost my first promo match and then several games after, going down to 30lp or so. Now I'm clamped hard and just don't have time to throw games at it to get my MMR back up what with work and whatnot. If I could see how close I was maybe I'd be more enthusiastic but not having any actual metric of how close I am it just doesn't seem worth it.

I'm dying here to see a space in these paragraphs. Yick.

.

That aside, the more games you win the less LP you will earn/lose each game. I'm about 100ish ranked games in and I'm usually getting 5-8 a game, with games giving me 1 LP and others giving me 20 because I'm on a real hotstreak/lossstreak.

.

Climbing a ladder SHOULDN'T be easy because its a show of skill, and if you can easily climb a ladder it isn't that impressive if you get to the top.

.

I understand this is a world of Instant gratification now, but there is still a lot to be said for hard work.
