Dos Natsy 'Supports"
"Basket Case" By Green Day 'Do you have the time, To listen to me whine, About nothing and everything'
Nowadays the Support class is plagued by the few 'OP' champs that are played to full effectiveness. These supports include Leona, Thresh and Annie. Each of these "Supports" are 'OP' in their own way: Leona is the CC-queen while being super tanky, Thresh has "4 game changing abilities" (taken from RIOT YouTube video), and Annie the AP carry turned support with an hour long stun.
Now I am not looking for ground nerfs for these champs, no matter how much they may deserve, but just equalizing nerfs. For example, Leona just needs to have tankieness nerfs. She is too tanky for the amount of CC and extra damage she brings. I don't want to nerf her passive(the extra damage) or her CC(which makes her the CC queen) but her tankieness. Now, I bet you have all run into the Leona's who are so tanky you can't kill them as they CC you. Then, their ADC will just ripe you a new one winning them the lane. Now, a quick fix to this one sided lane would be to either reduce her tankieness ie. her W armor and MR increases or her passive stats. Also, I believe 2 seconds or so added on to her E would decrease her lane dominance. I don't want to get rid of her passive damage or her cc because I think that's what makes Leona the CC queen.
Second, is Thresh and his ability to win lane with poke, tankieness and plus his pulls. This is not included to his dominance late game to get his allies out of jams and pull his enemies into others. I do not have a long list of nerfs on this champ however, the one I have come up with seems it could cripple the Thresh player by Psychology. By this I mean, when Thresh throws out his Lantern it does not pull the Allie to his position but to the position he threw out the Lantern. This will reduce the effectiveness of Thresh Lantern disengages and the ganks that come from nowhere. If the jungler can no longer come from the enemies back brush unexpectedly and instantly it will significantly reduce the effectiveness of the gank. Also if an enemy is attempting to escape and they grab the Lantern, you can estimate the distance your enemy has gone because you enemy must be at or close to the Lantern's originating position. This tiny change will eliminate complete disengages with the help of the Lantern but still leave the possibility of Lantern's to help the team.
The third and final support that I believe needs a change is Annie. She is a tricky situation because if you nerf too much she loses her effectiveness as an APC. So I believe to nerf power as a 'support' is to just nerf her stun time and possible her attack range with the changes to the money items. I am talking about the buffs to the Spellthief's Edge Line of support items with her attack range and that new buff to that item I could foresee domination's with her range. However, games have not shown this new change to be impossible. So the only change I could she to stop the APC/support Annie is to nerf the stun time. A stun time that scales off of level is very hard to deal wil in most situations and when that stun can be in the form of an AOE the size of Gragas himself it is very hard to deal with. Now the 1.25/1.5/1.75 stun times may be manageable to deal with in the mid lane because you can be countered by the instagib champions such as Leblanc, Zed and a fed/farmed Gragas. So a nerf to the time of stun would stop her domination in the bot lane but keep her bursty in the mid lane.
These are the pesky supports I am tired of attempting to fight in the bot lane with my 'actually' supports such as Nami, Janna and Sona. Again, I am trying to emphasize that I am not trying to nerf these champs to the ground just so there is some sort of variety in the support select. Please any comment about these and other supports would be appreciated. The supports need to rise in Season 4.
We are the carries that support the carries.
