Season 4 rune diversification might be rough on early levels

I've been reading, and i understand that you want to make using runes more of an individual thing as opposed to everyone just buying the meta set and using it for everything. The problem i see with wanting people to use different runes for each champion is this; runes are expensive. I'm level thirty and i play a lot in my free time, and i still have to try and decide if i want to get a new champion that i really want to play, or if i want to try and get better runes, and that's with only a basic AP and AD page, it would take me months to save up enough IP to buy enough to really diversify my rune pages. I do think making a unique rune page more attractive as an option is a good idea, but it will create a huge gap between players that have either played longer or just spend lot's of money on the game and those who are just starting out unless you make runes cheaper.

Nope, use RP to buy champ, sexy champs, sex-sell champs, Riot gonna love that.

with such a steep learning curve to the game, do you think that matters? that it will take so long to be able to buy the runes to make it a level at which they matter? i'm not saying i disagree. i would like it for runes to be cheaper. what i'm suggesting is that this probably isn't a good argument in favor of it.

that said, riot does listen, and i've seen a lot of feedback to them on this subject. but, there's been no reply.

I think runes need to be massively cheaper and that they need to just get rid of the lower tier runes

Huh, I never thought about this. It's true. I've been playing casually at lvl 30 for more than a year and I'm still pretty limited in what rune sets I have. Making it to where there are more options to chose from I assume will make it so that the best runes for specific champs/roles will be more varied and unique for that champ/role. Thus, as OP said, I bet players will need more runes overall. This will make things much harder if they don't reduce rune prices.

I've been wanting to buy a set of mana runes for ryze for like 4 months but have always deemed champs more a priority. I'd go crazy if I had to buy even MORE rune sets.

I don't like how buying 3 quints can be equal to buying a whole champ, seems inbalanced
