Placement Matches Unfair!

So, I just finished all 10 placement matches. I won 8 out of 10 games and thought "hey, I'm going to move up from Bronze 4 and maybe get into silver." Turns out, I'm back in Bronze 4 with 0 points, which is actually worst then where I was at because in season 2 I have 100 points and qualified for a series that I had not started yet.

Somebody please explain to me how this makes sense because right now I'm feeling really jipped. There must be some sort of mistake.

Placement matches are just that: "placement". Where you go from there is entirely up to you and with the adjustments to the clamping issue ranked progression should be smoother and be more attainable. Furthermore, this is not a hard reset, meaning that your ranked MMR from season three is still applicable to your account as well as your MMR from the pre-season, so the placement matches by themselves are not the only thing deciding where you start.

It still doesn't make any sense to me. Remember 8 out of 10 wins and 100 points from last season. You gotta realize that I was doing well last season. Considering that and my win ratio in the placement matches isn't it a little unfair to put me back in B4? I mean just leave me there without any placement matches if thats where I'm going to end up. It's just annoying that I play 10 games and end up exactly where I was minus the points (starting at 0 instead of 100. This game has really pissed me off here.

I don't mean to sound rude here, but does it really matter? If you were in B4 and managed to get up to your 100 points even with clamping, why wouldn't you be able to do that now that clamping has been adjusted? Should you have probably gotten into B3 or B2, probably, but you should be able to practice and play your way into it regardless. Just calm down a bit and think about it, it's just a game man, and having fun with it will always be more important than your rank.

Ya I guess you're right. It just seemed like a quick way to move up in ranks, and I was looking forward to it because I've been trying to get out of bronze for the longest time and the reason I can't go out is because I'm in bronze. Anyways, I'v employed a few games now and it looks like I'm getting a good 33 points with every win so thats good at least. Quick question though, what is clamping?

Thanks for your replies.

Clamping was a mechanic that applied to ranked leagues where the LP gain for wins was very minimal and the LP loss from losing was drastically out scaling those gains. It basically forced certain tiers to have win percentages of around 70% or higher just to get promoted once.
