There needs to be an In Game Skype.

I think an In Game Skype would help with communication and game play but there are those people that complain or "B*tch" about everything in game which actually might make it worse all though a mute button would fix that.

Okay I'm going to post in on this because I've thought a lot about this ever since I've started playing this game about a year and a couple of months ago.

First and foremost, riot should not just GIVE everybody playing this game voice chat. I mean... have you seen the community? Most of the people I talk to on the internet, not even just league but on the internet in general, I don't want to have anything to do with in real life. In league, I don't want to hear people raging or yelling, or, god forbid trolling in a voice chat. At that point, it would just add insult to injury.

YET, I feel that perhaps there is a workable solution. I think riot should think about voice over-ip in a different way. Instead of GIVING it to everybody, they should make players EARN the ability to voice chat. I'm talking getting enough honor, or going a long time without being reported. The players that play this game should only have the ability to talk to other players if they deserve it, and should have it immediately taken away if they are found guilty for trolling with it in the tribunal.

I have to say with this kind of community your going to have to give up something just for this feature. Probably IP or RP for that matter or even your Honor Points. Its bad enough we have flamers and we don't need people vocally flaming towards other players

I disagree that you should have to pay ip or rp, because riot works very hard to avoid a "pay-to-win" mentality, and instead tries to foster a free to play mentality, so that really doesn't work out as well.

In response to Tristan- I disagree that you should have to mute them and that everybody comes unmuted. Honestly, as a player I would really rather not have to deal with that couple of seconds of a sound byte of someone playing rick astely on their microphone, or another person just repeating "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK" over and over again in the mic. Then, there comes another problem. If you introduce this mic system, people will become reliant on it, and then whether you like it or not, you have to talk to people, whether you like THEM or not.

However, that's not to say that I disagree with the fact that honor can be a bit too easy to lose because of simple feuds. There would have to be a balance, or perhaps if you were to unlock the ability to talk in chat, you wouldn't lose it from losing honor, but you would lose it from being reported repeatedly, and then would have to work your way back into the good graces of the community.

It was a suggestion but you are right, it would make the free to play mentality disappear.

Assuming you can measure morality, which you can't. OP's idea of a mute button made your post unnecessary. What if somebody doesn't get enough honor simply because of a clashing personality or an anti-social disease?

Honestly, an amazing and viable thing to do would be to give voice chat to parties. Also have the ability to call other people on your friends list while not in game with them just as an added bonus. This would improve the League community a lot. This would also help optimize the game as when some people run Skype while playing League it causes their FPS to drop or their ping to rise.

nah. this game would be terribad with in game chat. i'd be cool with a couple of more pings. ward here - for example.

that is actually good idea they should add mic so you can talk to your teammates in game.

Just teammates only and there has to be a function to mute flamers and toxic players of course ingame without having to click on another window while in a match.

I think what you're trying to say is mic chat?

Yes, there does need to be mic chat. There also needs to be a replay function and we need to get off adobe air but hey, that ain't really gonna happen.

Despite your run on sentence OP, you're actually wiser than most GD users. Most "Mic chat" requests get spammed with "I don't want to listen to little kids and ragers".

But not you OP. You understand the concept of a mute feature that goes hand in hand with every audio communication tool ever. Congratulations.

I see what you did there.

umm... in game chat would be a very bad idea... having a toxic player typing is annoying enough... but having to hear the kid cuss and yell at you for no reason? nty there is a reason most mobas dont have a built in voice chat... its because instead of just seeing typing... you will now have that 12 year old cuss you out... inj general i believe it would be a bad idea... a mute feature would be a good idea for that but even then still too much toxicity would be around even with it... still gotta hear the kids cuss and yell and scream before you can mute them... just saying

I agree with you.. it is already complicated to read toxic players.. you can mute them, but your game is already ruined...

Ive played GOME in Xbox some times, and there you can talk on mic while playing.. I gotta say.. there are so many toxic players, and they yell and curse.. it is really awful.. :/

I think an important thing to note is that chatting through text is rather impersonal, while voice is much more personal. Just by hearing someone's voice, you automatically will treat them differently, and probably will care much more. I know that for myself, if someone is doing horribly and being a d*ck about it, I don't really watch what I say too often. However, if it was voice chat, I believe most people (myself included) would be respectful to a degree.

The one problem I see here is age & maturity issues. I feel that you should have to at least be 15, if not 16. The fact is that as an adult in college, I'm going to use language. It's in my normal gaming-vocabulary, so kids would have to be old enough to deal with it.

I kinda want and not want it. Because you do tend to judge people on their voices not only on their game style.

One way it would be wonderful way to encourage team effort, making friends, etc. Because when you have a Trio or a Quadra team up, one or two people are left out of the loop, and people tend to forget to ping or tell them when they are ganking because of it. Those who team up generally blame the left over members for not being in the same loop, even if they end up in an undesirable role. This would be a wonderful way to eliminate that. There is a site but not everyone believes that links are innocent and not viruses, and don't trust them, and you can't blame them.

One way I do not want it, of course the raging, but generally Raging from what I noticed is downplayed when everyone is communicating vocally and accepting failures at times and realizing what they could have done. But there is sexism and racism sadly, and some voices are easier to determine races than others, and you can generally tell a woman's voice from a man, unless it's a kid that hasn't gone through puberty. Certain players could be toxic because of it. It would also be harder to prove someone was toxic in a vocal chat rather than in the text chat, unless Riot recorded all vocal conversations and allowed the Tribunal to overview them which could get time consuming.

I'm personally fine with a Separate Application such as Skype or Team Speak, but again, not everyone has them, or are willing to share their lovely voices, etc. I can see something like this being tested in PBE, maybe a choice of a vocal chat or not, but you would still hear your teammates talking, but this would have to see if it affected people's FPS or ping any as well. Time will tell.

It would be nice if it was an extension of the chat system already there. They have mute buttons present. Doesn't have to be skype, but I agree.
