A Newb's Question on Runes

Hey there everybody. So pretty soon I'll be hitting Level 20, meaning I can buy Tier 3 runes. I have a enough IP saved up to buy quite a few runes, but I don't really feel like buying hundreds or anything.

If you could suggest one solid, multipurpose set of marks, seals, glyphs, and quints to suffice me until I hit 30, what would it be?

Thanks a lot. For a bit of context, my most played champs are Blitz, Jax, Shen, Sona, Udyr, and Twisted Fate.

Solid seal and glyph choices across all boards are usually flat armor yellows and scaling mr blues. With the champions you play quints and marks will be a bit harder depending on game mode preference. Jax and udyr would be good with flat ad for both, sona can use the flat ad reds but needs gp10 quints same goes for blitz as a support only many prefer flat hp quints. Shen is good with as reds and can use ms quints same alternatively goes for jungle udyr. Twisted fate can use mrpen reds flat mr blues flat mp5 yellows and flat ap quints.

These assume SR and aren't the only thing you can run but are good investments for a lot of champions.

That's a difficult call to make. For a generic rune page, I would probably go fairly defensive, because it'll at least benefit every champ you play, even if it isn't ideal.

I haven't actually read much into current 'optimal' runes, so this advice may be a bit outdated, but...

Flat armor seals are usually pretty good, because a lot of early damage/harass comes from auto-attacks.

Scaling MR glyphs were considered the best for MR some time ago. Not sure if this is still the case, though. Theory there being that magic damage from spells tends to ramp up later on, so you don't necessarily need to stack flat MR early. Another good one for glyphs is mana regen, though that wouldn't benefit Shen at all.

For marks, something like flat AD would be generally applicable to a variety of champs. Could even do more flat armor there if you really wanted.

For quints... maybe flat armor or MR? I also really like the GP10 quints since I mostly play support, but extra income on any champ is never a bad thing.
