Hey all. I've been playing on the NA side of things for a bit now. Started a few months back, and have been following for quite a while now. I'm looking for a good group of folks, adult oriented, to run some matches with on a regular as I plan to be getting into the ranked bracket once I hit 30. I main a few different champs currently and I'm able to jump into about any role that is needed. Look forward to chattin, and happy huntin!
Don't want to ruin it for you or anyone else, but even at Silver it can be brutal and very toxic. As long as you have a tough skin you will be ok. The key to remember is most people take ranked very seriously so you have to bring your A game with you.
I did my ranking provisionals last week and was placed in Silver IV. Some champs that I do great at with normals I failed miserably in my ranked games, and some characters I do ok with in normals have been working great during the ranking games. I never thought for example Karma would be a great champ for me until I played ranked for example.
I did not try ranked until I had 100 normal game wins. In hindsight I should probably have waited a little to get other champs and roles better under my belt. Play as many normal games as you can when you reach 30, until you are on a winning streak. You should reach a point where you don't even think about the keystrokes. They should be automatic. Map awareness is key. Even when you are dead you should be checking around the map and looking at what the enemy team is building so you can counter it. Learn not only your champs but others as well so you know what to expect from them, and learn how to counter them.
I am sure you will get better advice then from me, but keep your love for the game and become very very solid in at least 1 champ in each role, you never know if you will have to play it or if it will be banned.
thanks for the input guys, I do appreciate it. I have done normal, aram, the whole nine. I have found my 2 of three champs i like. And have been setting up different runes and mastery sets accordingly. Since i am past 20, I have been using ip to gather the runes I need. I always play to win, never really a joke imo. I have enough to qualify as bronze based on what is there now, BUT I will gladly slam through the ranks. I know its not going to be easy, if it was i wouldnt be playing haha. I love a challenge. The diversity and human aspect of ranked is what i want. I will never get better unless I dive in, win or lose. Losses are learning experiences in all areas from self to team. and as Blast said, vision is key, to know where your opponents are going or may focus. But I thank all of ya for all the advice, pretty much all the things ive heard from a buddy of mine irl whos been playing since beta. Ive been around the block in mmo's and mobas so looking forward to the coming year and fun and challenges.
Welp thats what i Thought about ranked, until I played a couple games. Its really toxic aroud bronze, gl!
Gonna be straight with you: don't go into rank until you have a lot more games under your belt. Ranked can be pretty brutal on a...inexperienced player. If you want to practice play normals draft, least that way you can get somewhat of a feel of what ranked is like. then if you can pull off a couple wins in a row consistently and you think you got your champ down then head on over to ranked. I completely agree with him as too not going into Ranked matches without doing a nice amount of "Draft Matches" and getting down a few Champions. It's good to learn all of the roles and learn to play at least 3 different Champions in those roles as to the "Banning Phase" in Ranked matches.
As a new player, When you hit level 30 you'll need to do quite a few matches to get enough IP for your runes before you go into Ranked Matches if you don't have enough already. That way you'll also get the experience you'll need to learn the Champions and Roles you'll be playing.
And as I always tell new players, Please don't be a butthole and Troll, Flame, Instalock or AFK. People like that ruin the experience for other players and you have a higher chance of getting Banned or Suspended. Plus it's just an overall annoying thing to do.
Twitch Tv is a great place to watch Professional League of Legends players play live, You'll learn a lot from them and most of them commentate on what they're doing and how to deal with situations.
Probuilds is also a good site to search for a champion and see what some professional players build on them, Along with Runes and Masteries they have for them.
