Quill Coat Passive
Why won't monsters die from Quill Coat Passive? They always remain with 1HP, contrary to the item description.

The reason is so that you don't kill blue or red when you're trying to donate it to your ally. Same reason Riot changed the % chance to deal 500 damage with Wriggles to a flat amount. Personally, I think it's great, it's like having a mini-respawn in your jungle. You gank, then you go kill all but one small wraith and sit there soaking health and mana regen before moving on to gank mid.
I was thinking that as well, but, however, red buff can kill monsters; so i don't see the actual reason the Quill Coat passive can't kill them.
Honestly, Riot should probably change red buff as well. They just haven't updated it yet.
Well, it's not just the red buff. Take a look at an well known and used jungle item - Spirit of the Elder Lizard. Its passive can kill monsters. So now I put the question again. Why the Quill Coat passive cannot?
It is also very annoying to last hit each monster of a 3(4)-monster camp, especially while you are a tanky jungler, so you have a pretty low attack speed. IMHO it is a bug; I don't see how RIOT would actually want it in game.
The reason for that one is pretty clear. Elder Lizard is built by, as Riot puts it, "selfish junglers" who want to clear fast and gank faster. These champions tend to quickly and easily destroy jungle camps before moving on to other lanes. Later in the game, they rarely participate in handing out buffs, more often than not they're trying to assassinate or team fight. Also, SotEL is nice for stealing buffs as you can jump into someone's jungle and hit a monster for the dot then turn around and fight the enemy player and get your farm even still.
Two different play styles. Two different types of damage.
because the elder lizard procs when you attack the monster and not when the monsters attack you, aka you have no control in the quill coat scenario but for elder lizard and red buff you have control
It is good, and it does mention that it can't cause lethal damage I believe. I love that, otherwise I would take blue's I want to give, and I wouldn't have my mobile refueling stations without it!
It's mentioned in the wiki, but not in the game/client.
this is so that you dont take things like blue buff by mistake- i was worried that the item would take blues from your mid lane at first and then used the item and glad it is true damage and not magic so that there is no exploits with spirit stone and that the passive cannot execute to ks buffs away from teammates
