New jangle halp

So I haven't played jangle since the new changes to supports/jangles, mostly because I know nothing about how the new system works.

My question is this:

Is there anything I need to know before returning to jangle? New champs that are op, new jangle routes, new items, do you smite first buff, any other tips that might help. Also, are janglers allowed to take kills now?

If nothing much has changed, that's cool. I liked to call myself a decent jangle in S3

You can smite the the first buff, then do wolves or wraiths, then get the second buff with your smite. Spirit of the Ancient Golem is still strong. What you do as a jungler remains the same, help your lanes win.

Pretty much what Frayace said. Be careful, you'll take more damage in the jungle than you used to, especially at the wolf camps (they no longer have a crit chance, but they now deal about 80% more damage than they used to). Smite's cooldown was lowered by 20 seconds, so you can smite the first buff. A tradeoff for this cooldown reduction, however, is damage: it no longer deals as much as it used to. Just be careful of that when trying to secure objectives like dragon and baron. My personal favorite rout right now is Blue > Wight > Red, since that gives you the most XP by clearing three camps. Another thing to note: both buffs will no longer get you to level 3; you HAVE to clear more than your buffs to hit level 3. If we haved a ranged top laner, like Vlad or Kennen, I donate my wight to them (since with their free trinket ward, they can take it themselves from over the wall) and I just do wraiths instead. If I'm on the purple side, I usually donate it to the adc, since they can get a significant portion of XP from it. Wights give about as much XP as the double golems.

For items: Wriggles is still horribly gold inefficient, not worth anything. Spirit of Spectral Wraith spell vamp only works on jungle monsters now. Bottom line, rush your jungle item, then start farming it up and ganking when lanes get out of whack. You can donate a lot of stuff to help lanes out, and still have enough jungle creeps to farm effectively.

Actually, some new things that I've noticed that haven't gained as much traction in the jungle are

  1. you can smite at the beginning of attacking the buff, then head directly to your other buff. The cd is short enough that you can go directly from one to the other. 2)minions give a LOT of exp and gold now, making champions like Shyvana or olaf or riven (with fast clear times) really powerful.

  2. the white buff, imo is never worth it early game. It takes too long to kill and does too much damage to consider the gold amount you get worth it. I generally avoid it all together unless I have smite up, and even then I view it as something that slows my overall jungle clear time. HOwever, it does help if you have a lane thatneeds either golems or the whyte. Keep that in mind.
