@Riot, a proposal for a small Kayle rework that gives you more control over her power.
I never post on GD, so hopefully I do this right.
Let's talk
So right now, Kayle's biggest offense tool is her E, which is what's currently built around via Nashor's into Hurricane. One of the biggest issues I find with her E is that in terms of mana cost, it's INCREDIBLY CHEAP (seriously, I'm no mathematician but calculate the damage she can deal after building nashor's/hurricane, over 10 seconds, for the cost of 45 mana. It's absurd. At early levels, 45 mana is fairly reasonable, but given the fact that attack speed increases the cost effectiveness immensely, it's a very strong invisible aspect of her kit. Add to the fact that her uptime/downtime feels arbitrarily set, and I feel there's room for a small rework here.
My proposed change:
Her E becomes a toggle (similar to Jinx Q or pre-rework Sivir's ricochet). She consumes mana per autoattack, and upon toggling it off there is X cooldown before it is able to be reactivated (similarly to Swain's ultimate).
There are potential variations here, such as charging mana per second it's activated (prevents her from just always leaving it up), and the ability to scale her mana cost with levels to account for how well it scales.
The rebuttal (and why I mentioned variations) I would expect to see is:
"If it's mana per autoattack, she never has incentive to turn it off, giving her no counterplay"
Which is why I mentioned adding a mana drain here. The cooldown on deactivation gives her opponent windows of counterattack, which I should mention disappears on lategame Kayle when she obtains (I believe) 34% CDR? The mana drain, depending on it's severity, would incentivize her not to leave it on. These are all tuneable aspects of her kit which could more accurately reflect the inherent power these abilities (that scale massively with items) are capable of.
