Need some IT help

So I am looking into some video editing software for me and my girlfriend, she thinks editing some of my league clips would be a cool way to spend some time together. #lifegoals Anyways I am in need of some help in this field as my tech skills are more around computer repair and graphic arts. Basically everything else need around the video editing. LMAO jk jk.

So shoot me some ideas please, OS isn't an issue, her and I both operate well on both Macs and PCs respectively, and I do know that there are some niche video editing software programs on Mac that aren't as openly or readily available on PCs just cause.
