Decay for inactivity

Does the inactivity decay for ranked resets after the season has ended? For example if you haven't played last 20 days at the end of S6 does that mean you will have only 8 days to play in S7 untill it activates? Or the decay will reset from the new season?Or maybe the decay doesn't start untill you have played atleast 1 ranked game in the new upcoming Season? Thank you for the response

You get New placements in the new season so you have no rank to Decay off. And in preseason Decay is deactivatet
