Because hey i get 4 randoms. I doubt luck has anything to do with solo duo rank. Unless you have acheived the diamond master challenger status and when the "soft reset" happens you are pretty much playing with the same player base. So how is that competative. Hogwash as usual or you can be faker and get 4 shitbags and carry them every game right? cuz that happens. lmao wat a bullshit suckout of a system.

The luck factor just isn't a thing over long stretches and large samples of games and simple logic tells us that. If there's 1 bad player in the game there's a 4/9 chance that he'll be on your team and a 5/9 chance he'll be on the other team, he can't take your slot. The bad player is 10% more likely to be on the other team than yours.

In single games this doesn't stand up, but if you play 100 games and assume there's a single bad player and that's the sole determiner of win rate you'd expect to win somewhere between 50 and 60% of all games.

The simple fact is that if you're better than the people around you the bad player drops on the enemy team more often than yours.

Of course if you are the bad player in several games this advantage starts to go away. If you play consistently above average it's easy to maintain a good winrate, it's inconsistency that starts to hamper this.

It's all about drudging past the crap games.

If you have a 55% winrate, you will reach Diamond, eventually. But that means 45% of your games, you will lose, and some of those games will be with really bad teammates that cause you to lose. You just have to grind past those games, it's all a part of the process of climbing. Everybody loses games.

Oh boi let me tell you something about luck vs. skill. Last week or so I lost a large majority of games that I won my lane in, roamed, invaded, and did all sorts of shit. My match history was literally Corki mid with 20 something/less than 10/around 10 every single game. And almost every single one I had that damned red bar next to it. I was so tilted. I consistently, without fail, could go into a match and expect one of my teammates to almost single handedly fuck up an entire game. I had a kled that went in on fiora every time he got into lane, a varus thresh that did the same thing to the enemy vayne, and a jungler in one of my games that didn't seem to understand that there are two sides in the jungle and he probably shouldn't be in the one that has the enemy jungler and his team to back him up.

Basically skill doesn't mean shit in this meta because some bullshit hard carry champion will get 10 kills before 3 minutes and the next thing you know there's a 21/2 fiora in mid lane two shotting you all because kled couldn't sit behind his minion wave.

Rants over still tilted though.

In almost every single part of life, I would rather be the God of Luck than the best at anything.

Luck factor is always there and is always important. I'd rather do shit in all my games, but get 4 other teammates that are overperforming, than being me who overperforms and having 4 shit teammates.

Now, the luck factor seems more oppressive when you have played few games. Like, you only played 100 games and you only managed to get from silver 5 to silver 2, because you had trolls in your team and only got, I don't know, 58% winrate. As you keep on playing more games, you will see that luck isn't much of a factor, as eventually the enemies will have more trolls than your team (9 other players to fill, 5 of them are enemies, 4 of them are yours, chances are, enemies get the troll more often than you).

This means that eventually, it's all a grind, since eventually, after A LOT of games, it gets to even out more. The more you play, the more it evens out, so if you're consistent with your play, you will eventually climb.

You don't wanna to play competitive. In competitive 1v1 games there is not team to blame for your own mistakes and people ragequit even more often...
