need some advice from the higher elo guys

Hey guys, wanted to ask some of you season players what a few good champions for top lane would be? I am looking for a couple champs to main so i can finally gain some elo and stop just playing random champs i hardly play because it seems good for the team. Any suggestions on a few good champs that are good and I can grow with as my elo climbs?

If you get good with fiora or jayce they are currently very easy to carry with in solo queue. Other good picks are rumble, darius, galio, nautilus.

Well, I am not high elo either, nor am I a top main but......

It depends on what you are into. There are some champs that just stay top and demolish a lane (Nasus, Singed, Yorick, Jax, etc) pushing down towers as hard and fast as you can. Yorick for example can ulti in lane, and let the Maiden and a Zzrot portal be pushing the lane as they tele bot lane and shove bott..... Applying pressure onto two sides of the map at once.

Then there are the champions like Shen and Galio who find their pride and joy comes from randomly making a 1v1 or 1v2 into a 2v1 or 2v2 with their ulties. They also apply a ton of CC and utility along with decent damage.

Fiora and Riven have a lot of mobility mixed with damage and can wipe out teams pretty easy after they get any kind of fed.

Renekton, Fiora, Ekko, and Swain do well as either tanky or bruiser..... So they are a bit more versatile, but normally do best as a mix of both.

Im sure im missing a few here, and those champions can fill other parts of what i said easily..... But in the end it all depends on how you like to play.

For champions that are good at higher tiers: Darius, Nautilus, Galio, Fiora For champions that are good for one-tricking to climb until you reach higher tiers: Tryndamere

what tier are you aiming for?

if i were to talk about top lane state from the perspective of what i consider high elo

S tier: Fiora Kled Renekton Kennen Swain Rumble Vladimir A tier: Galio Gragas Malphite Shen

everything else is not really good unless mained by a main that has a hundred or more games on them

Don't do Fiora. Pick a low skill champion and just really master the game. That is better than pissing off your team by being an average Fiora.

Play nothing but Pantheon until diamond.

I really appreciate all the advice guys, so would it be better to one trick something cheese like said tryn till you get a bit higher, then switch to something else. or just start with something else from the get go and learn it as you climb, so when you do reach a higher elo you are not struggling against smart players with a cheese champion.

A problem I see people having in higher elos with 1tricking to a high rank and elo, is that when they want to try something else, they almost always do it on an alt....... The reason why is because when you get to a high elo, the enemy laner will almost assuredly know how to play against the champ you are learning if you do not want to 1trick anymore. This makes it EXTREMELY difficult if you are wanting to learn a higher skill champion like Riven or Fiora or Jayce and will often lead to your team flaming you hard if you lose lane, often them saying "never play that champion again" etc.

I would personally vote for the learn a champion you like playing in top and slaughter the enemy with them.

I personally am a generalist so i like playing almost every champion.

It depends on what your goals are (coming from a bronze, so ignore).

If your goal is to get Gold, then the advice is way different. If your goal is to get to Diamond, then the advice is way different. But maybe you just want to get to Bronze4. I don't know your goal.

Cheese champions, simple champions, etc can all get to Challenger. Sure you may hit a wall one day, but you can watch Diamond ELO Tryn one-tricks or Challenger Annie one-tricks. So even if the opponents get better, if you are a good one-trick, you can still win.

any tips on how to carry? like my last game, played tryn, bullying my lane and have tower halfway down but before lvl 6 our mid has given up 5 kills and a tower, our jg is 0-4, and bot is 2-5. I handling my own top and enough to keep they jg around me, yet my team cannot win a 4v3. just confused on how ppl can be this bad
