Placement matches are a joke. Thanks for getting my hopes up Riot.

This is complete and utter bull. I worked my hardest to stay away from bronze. I did everything I could to play my best and help out my team. I win 4 out of 10 placement matches (yes i know not the best); I feel like I did amazing in most if not all of them (look at my match history, i played great) and I get placed where? Bronze V. Congratulations? No not at all. What was the point of me working my hardest and doing great in most of my games to get placed in the lowest possible place I could be. I was thinking "maybe bronze III, I could accept that" but no. I deserve to be higher than this. Last season I was placed into silver IV, got destroyed because of afk and trollers, and went to bronze III. Whatever; I could accept that, but this? Not at all. This is a horrible system. Thanks a lot Riot. This was the game that got me back into video gaming, and now I just feel its cheated me. I want to say I will stop playing this game, and I will for awhile because I'm super butt hurt, but ill come back. I just wish there was a better way to be placed. I'm really disappointed in how it all works.

So there is my rant... needed to get that off.

You'll climb if you keep playing and deserve to. I don't understand why people care about their placement so much.

Keep in mine there's a soft reset on your rank. It doesn't think you're at Bronze 3 and then take into account placement matches. It adjusts your rating (lower) then does placement matches.

Actually the soft reset helps people in bronze. Lets say you are in B3 and have a 1000 MMR with the soft reset you would take the 1000 + 1200 / 2 = 1100. So at the start of his placements he was actually a higher mmr then last season. Then they go 4/10. Depending on who they played against they could have lost between 100-300 mmr.(keep in mind placements still have a much larger mmr swing then normal ranked games.) Now the difference between bronze 1 and 3 for mmr is only about 100-150 mmr. So if he lost 200mmr which is about average for his loss in placements yes he should have dropped a tier or 2.

The soft reset helps those with low mmr and hurts those with high mmr. For those with higher mmrs this can sometimes mean a HUGE drop in tiers from possibly plat to silver. And for those with REALLY low mmr it may not take you outta B5 but is will help your mmr which means more points per win so it should be easier to climb.

Pretty much this.

Lower ranked players may drop 2 divisions. Plat+ players often drop down 2 leagues.

Ohh, I didn't realize that. Thanks for the info

The point was that you tried your hardest and your hardest wasn't good enough. Why do people thinking putting effort in automatically makes them deserve a freebie?

Not sure what you were expecting. Riot indicated that most players would be placed lower than their current position, and you went 4-6 from bronze 3.

2 things I noticed. Everyone that complains about it is right in line with their MMR from last season, and they're all from the NA server. Stop making the rest of us look bad, thanks!

Your Ranked Games have MMR that are Bronze V level from as far as 13 days ago. You've lost more than you've won in your placements AND you have not been able to maintain a 50% winrate from as far as that. I hate to tell you this but your true ELO is Bronze. Just like everyone else who dropped from Platinum or Gold into Silver/Bronze. You guys are all playing with much lower MMR players but just because of how the divisional system works, you got to keep a higher "inflated" standing than you actually were -- but you were still playing versus opponents close to your true ELO, which is Bronze V.

The soft reset basically set you closer to your true ELO at the end of the last season based on the 10 matches. My MMR has always been around 1560-1600, I went 5-5 in placements and I got Gold IV. 1560 is pretty much dead-on Gold IV.

What's the problem?

Last season, tanking your placement matches got you placed into a much lower division, but MMR seemed mostly unaffected.

This meant you were either climbing back up really quickly or start slowly sinking.
