Is it just me or is Poppy's damage too much for a "Tank" not a fighter, a "Tank"

I had a Poppy on the enemy team who did a crazy amount of damage, the most damage in the whole game (Dmg Dealt to Champions that is) about 34,000. The next closest person even close to her was our Vel'Koz with 25,000. She built full tank and still managed to do the most damage in the whole entire game. How is this at all not broken or even considered to be top tier and why did we only get an nerf to her Ulti when she has more CC to keep an elephant under control.

Wait....only 25K damage from Vel that ENTIRE game? I'm not even a good Vel'Koz player and I do at least 50K with every match I play as him.

Zac is the same way. Both champs have easy to land % max hp damage.Its probably not the only reason but definitely part of it

Poppy's damage is gated by her mana-hungry laning phase.

Unless your toplaner chose a lane bully... You can bet that Poppy will come out of lane really strong.

Poppy however has all her damage on her Q. The Q is in her melee range.

So choosing someone who can kite Poppy would be optimal in shutting her down.

Lategame tanks are tanks. No changing that. But unless you want to buff EVERY other tank in the game...

you can't really nerf poppy too much...

lmao yes you can. she was 45% winrate .5% playrate last season. I know because i got really triggered over it at one point.

Tanks live longer than other champions so they get more cooldown rotations off. They also tend to have something in their kit to trade with fighters and other tanks, like %hp damage. Two tanks slapping each other with %hp damage and then sustaining and shielding it all lane phase adds up to big numbers that don't mean much, same as with poke mages or sustain lanes.

Also poppy is a bit more on the fighter side of tanks. Her cc is unreliable and she has more trading tools than a malphite or maokai type pure tank.

Poppy is more of a Tanky fighter than a Fighter Tank. She mostly gets by on being a damage dealing peeler for the ADC, with the occasional flank engage
