Ranked Flex:

First I want to start by saying that I DO NOT consider myself to be a great player. I am a silver elo player who hopes to make it to Gold this season.

But I just got out of this ranked flex game where our team lost 3-29. 3-29! It takes quite a bit for me to just say screw it and give up on a ranked game because 90% of my elo's games are a crapshoot and anything can happen. But I gave up after about 5 minutes. Thresh died level 1 to Karma and Ziggs and Mordekaiser had both died about 3-4 times by 7-8 minutes. Then I look at the current rankings and I see that their team has 3 S6 Golds. I know it doesn't go off of last season but even if you look at this seasons ranking we have an unranked and B5. Then we have Ziggs and Mordekaiser both playing their champs for the first time basically and it showed by their 2/20 stat line. This just blows my mind how the matchmaking system thought this was a fair game. ..

At the start of the game I asked Mordekasier have you played him before and he says no not really but that hell play safe...

I just want a fair game...

Matchmaking will never be fair, unless you can hyper carry every game to the desired elo.

You won a lot before probably. Forced 50% win-loss ratio system doesn't allow fair game. I'ts intentionally unbalanced to likely ensure who will win and who will lose. That's why there are so few balanced games (under diamond at least, lol).

Flex has it's own mmr (and ranks) separate from solo/duo, while the majority of look ups will show you solo/duo ranks (and estimates of their solo/duo mmr), so that make flex extra spicy in the matchmaking. It could be theoretically fair with everyone the same flex mmr and comparable flex ranks, but it sure feels bad if some of them are plat+ in solo/duo while others are bronze in solo/duo.

People are also dumb in general surrounding picking stuff they don't actually play in ranked, and they're especially bad about it in flex because 'lol it's just flex', but that's less a matchmaking issue and more a people issue.
