Clarification on Critical Strikes.

I'm here asking for some clarification with critical strikes. Besides adc (with crit, and ashe obvi) I've noticed I can crit on certain AP champs such as gragas. Is a critical strike anything that might cause double normal damage? In the specific case with Gragas I was pure AP and apparently crit for 783 from his w. If my assumption is correct about the double damage classifying it as a crit than I believe I understand it. If not, could someone shed some light please?

A magic crit is anything in the ability that causes more damage than normal take anvia for instance if she uses her EE on any person would frost Debuff the damage is doubled in will appear as a Crit How ever it does not only appear on double damage take Natalie for example when she uses her Q on the prowl target It doesn't increase 33% damage but it still classified as a magic crit
