Hybrid Pen Marks vs Magic Pen Marks

Now, I understand that minions don't have armor, so the arp doesn't help with CSing. And on most Mid Laners and AP champions don't benefit much from Arpen. However I've noticed the amount of penetration both Hybrid Pen, and Magic Pen runes give, and I believe the Value for Hybrid Pen outweighs Magic Pen for 1 reason.

(I'm recalling these numbers from memory, correct me if I'm wrong. I do apologize in advance.) Full Magic Pen Marks = ~7.44 Magic Pen, or less from memory. Full Hybrid Pen Marks = ~5.86 Magic Pen (+the ArPen you get, which helps any champions damage vs other champions due to AA's.)

What I'm asking is; because of the overwhelming Value of Hybrid Pen, why don't we just say 'Screw it' to the 1.6 or so extra Magic Pen from going pure Penetration Marks. The way I see it is that Hybrid Pen marks seem to invalidate Magic Pen Marks.

I use hybrid pen on all of my ap pages because pretty much every mage still has to rely on auto attacks early game. Even those who have sustainable magic damage early, often lack the ability power needed to scale that damage to have much effect.

Full magic pen marks give you 7.8, full hybrid marks give you 8.1 Armor pen and 5.5 Magic pen, so I normally run it on my mid page for that reason

Because mages who overwhelmingly do magic damage benefit considerably more from magic pen than armour pen, lol?

With hybrid marks you're losing 2.3 magic pen and gaining 8.1 armor pen, I'd say it still helps with AA poke early on even if your kit doesn't fully utilise it

Depends on champ. If you can get alot of auto attack harass early game i always take hybrid pen runes. Pre rework brand was a champion i wouldn't mind taking hybrid pen runes on.

if im someone who doesn't really do much damage through autos, then magic pen

Never underestimate a mage's autos in lane. A single auto does the same damage as a level 1 spell more often than not :P
