top lane is boring... sometimes

i just had a game where the lane was decided at 5 minutes. this happens maybe 1 in 5 games, usually because i get counter picked. this time i picked jax and the enemy laner took pantheon. i all inned and wasnt able to secure a kill even though i popped flash ign. the panth still had barrier though and killed me under tower the second he hit 3 after backing. the lane hit a standstill and as i couldnt trade or all in him anymore he proceeded to harass me off minions killing me under tower again. the jungler didnt want to help, i wasnt behind on items or getting rolled in lane EVE just didnt want to bother. in games where one thing goes wrong and you dont get to do anything for the next 30 minutes because you are losing a bad matchup with no jg pressure what do you guys do? I enjoy top lane most of the time but in games where im waiting for the enemy to dive me again after a bad fight early on i just want to leave the game. Also, i know i ran on a bit but oh well.

I feel like this kind of explains everything.

Top lane is always the case of the jungler only visiting top if their respective laner is winning. If you even get counter picked in champ select, junglers will view top as a god damn fairy tale.

I wish top lane was more boring, then tanks might actually stand a chance of playing the game instead of the "hope you picked a top lane champ more cancer than the other guy" that it is rn

You use ignite in lane... As Jax? Pantheon was using barrier?

The fact you even considered going all-in on a Pantheon - WITH BARRIER - as JAX aside, what is up with those summoner spells?

Jax is not an early game champion. I see people all the way up to Diamond fail to comprehend this - the ONLY times Jax has a strong laning phase is when he hard counters his lane opponent, and even then it can go both ways because - get this - Jax is a late game scaling champion.

He has had periods where he was strong in lane (most notably Fervor of Battle and Conqueror in patch 9.2) but he is ultimately designed and balanced around the concept of "scaling". Sort of like old Vayne.

There's a reason you should be using teleport as Jax. Your primary goal is not to kill your lane opponent but to survive lane and get your items, as you inherently outscale most other champions in the game once you have some attack speed, cooldown reduction, health and most important levels - Jax's spells all drastically reduce their cooldowns as he levels them up.

Pantheon is an early game champion that CAN scale into the mid game if he gets ahead. But that's all he does. He's just about the worst late game champion in the entire game. Jax is one of the absolute best.
