A Humble Request: The Restoration of Aurelion Sol
Among my extremely selective list of champions I've gotten to level 7 is one that has been collecting dust for almost 2 years: Aurelion Sol. When this galactic dragon first came out, I was ecstatic to play him. His booming voice, epic powers, and amazing sunglasses (or are they starglasses?) made me fall in love with him. His kit was so unique and niche that only those willing to learn him played him. He was my pocket pick and I pulled off so many amazing and sometimes hilarious plays with him.
I went on League of Legends hiatus a bit to play other games, mainly Mortal Kombat 11 and Dead by Daylight. When I returned, so much had changed that I had a lot of homework to do. One day, I decided to play Aurelion Sol mid and was taken aback: why is my W moving so fast and why am I so slow? My friend informed me that Aurelion Sol had been slightly reworked and my heart was crushed. No longer could I keep my stars rotating for as long as I had mana; no longer could I build lane-sized star bombs with the passive movement speed from my E.
I'm not an expert, but its safe to say that Aurelion Sol has plummeted in play rate and popularity. It is extremely rare for me to see a player pick him or even ban him. He is looked over and surpassed by so many other mid laners that offer more reliable damage and utility than he does. As more champions are released, Aurelion Sol's unique and fun kit is slowly becoming more and more obsolete.
Hope is not lost, however. I beseech players to bring attention to Aurelion Sol and for Riot Games to listen. I absolutely adore this champion and yearn to return to his former state. It is a simple request; I am not asking for a ludicrous buff that would cause him to dominate mid lane. I am simply asking for Aurelion Sol to be given his old W back and his passive movement speed on his E. Much like Rengar's Q was reverted to his old Q, I ask the same to be done for Aurelion Sol.
Aurelion Sol has suffered so much, with his stars no longer remaining hidden in bushes. If he could be given one victory, I'm sure I speak for all Aurelion Sol mains that we would be quite happy and honored.
