I miss when this game was played to win
less people who intentionally threw just because someone was actually trying to do more than just have fun.

why can you not play for fun and try to win?
If you can't have fun, then you probably aren't playing the right game. There is no reason you can't both have fun and play to win, unless you're a sore loser. Which you are, seeing how your only posts are daily complaints about your losses.
I understand your plight, while coaching a youths soccer division I was given the task of bringing the children to victory but some still had the silly notion of fun being greater than the goal of winning. After our first failed games I realized me cheating by attempting to blind the other teams players with a laser pointer wouldn't be enough. I immediately began a system of grueling practice to ensure the children's next victory, however somewhere along the line the parents found the idea of planting punji stakes and lining the field with chained rabid dogs was a poor way to improve the childrens performance. I decided to change up my tactics and instead had the children practicing twelve hours a day under the guise of taking them out for ice cream (the ice cream parlor was very far away). Unfortunately I was quickly relieved of my duties after a shipment of steroids had accidently been delivered to one of the parents with the description "Plan B".
