Why is IP gone?

I don't understand why there was a need to make Blue Essence and IP the same thing. Right now the only way to get this new combined currency is to open chests or pull a Blizzard and buy chests. Yes you can get chests by playing other champs, but it only gives you the chance to get the Blue Essence you need to even... idk upgrade a champ to lvl 7 . It is just obnoxious that it is such a grindy and tedious process to even get 1000 BE. I remember when you could get 200 IP from a game and BE was not as necessary. Now it has changed and I feel it is not as worth it to play as much when you can only get assured BE one a day, and it is only 50. Whatever... this is going to get swept under the rug anyway. If anyone sees this, tell me what you think.
