I don't know about you but i enjoy getting kids banned
I mean if you're going to go that far with death threats, family harassment etc. etc. Yeah you deserve whatever punishment you receive.

trolls*
Don't exclude the "adults" that act the same way.
Being a teenager in an online video game community is somewhat equivalent to being #1 in the FBI's most wanted list.
that's why they must never know...
Lord help us if Riot ever adds microphone support function, I would consider quitting the game for that and I come from online FPS's. Luckily the PC community is better than consuls and TF2 was awesome until recently.
Ha some friend's of mine had porn star names for PS3 accounts for a while because of all the little kids on call of duty and shit. They'd just be so whiny and complaining and invariably you'd just hear some little 8 y/o with "why do you have a girl's name fag" and they'd always be like, bc she's famous, go google search it, bc 1 in 10 times they would and you'd hear a parent start yelling at them lol. Ah, good times, getting little kids who shouldn't be playing M rated games w/out supervision in trouble w/ their irresponsible parents who let them act like jerks online.
this gave me a justice boner
Wiser words have never been spoken

right, its not like you can mute people on such things....
oh wait lol.... we should def not have a voice chat because some cant understand what a mute button is...
sad world....on top of our reports doing next to nothing as far as punishments go
The issue with the "mute" button on mics is it tends to mute you entire team, making coordinating that much harder if you have a few people that you work well with.
So before you try to talk some trash like that consider most games don't offer mute voice on specific people.

?how am i talking trash? because i was stating a fact lol? umadbro?
btw there are PLENTY of games where you can mute single people and not the team, honestly i dont even know one game that you mute a whole team and not "per person"
when u mute chat in league is it the whole team? Cod the whole team? dont act like its impossible because its not, and if you dont wanna talk to people or even have voice chat then nobody is forcing you to....but dont force the rest of us not to have voice chat because you cant handle a mute button
hate to break it to ya kiddo (btw nice job upvoting yourself 3x and downvoting me 3x lmao, sad sad lil child)
death threats are one thing but you can banned for saying wtf to someone when they completely fuck up

The golden age of smack talk is dead. Kind of makes me want to cry.
There's a difference between playful smack talk, bad form, and harassment or abuse.
In-character back-and-forths and banter are almost always smack talk, which tends to be playful. If both sides are aware of what's going on and are doing it to entertain (ex. Pro Wrestling) or to have fun, that's absolutely fine. "GG EZ" is bad form. If you win and you thought it was too easy, don't tell your opponents that, chances are they already know it. Be better than a douche. IMO not reportable, but rude and unnecessary.
And then there's harassment and abuse. Death threats and racial slurs are not acceptable and Riot has repeatedly made their stance on this point clear. Similarly, destructive criticism or straight up flaming is not acceptable. Abuse and smack talk are never the same thing. The reason that you don't see smack talk much anymore in League is because too many people are in the abuse category and it's hard to tell if someone's being playful or not. I'd blame the flamers for taking that age down over anyone being too sensitive.
GG EZ is a reportable offense, a Rioter literally stated that in the Boards some time ago, I believe it was Lyte who said that. Also from player support spawn killing the enemy team and refusing to end the game is reportable as well since, in layman's terms, is actually considered Cyber-bullying (a form of) and it is also against some Internet Laws set by governments meaning that people can press law suits against Riot Games for it and the player can be compensated if they can win the case. So in legal terms some actual types of harassment in-game can get Riot into quite some trouble.

Spawn killing and not ending immediately is reportable? What has the world come to? To call that cyber-bullying is beyond stupid. Would a fed Akali be a "cyber-bully" too to every ADC and mid-laner? That just seems insane and idiotic. If this is true, Riot needs to seriously create new words other than "toxic" which seems to be the blanket statement for anything someone somewhere doesn't like.
I believe they mean spawn-killing for an extended period of time and being total assholes about it. What enemy team wants to sit in a match that went like 3-35 and watch themselves get abused. You can't leave(well you could, but punishments.), and sometimes, you still have those twats that refuse to surrender for absolutely no reason at all.

lol your actually 100% wrong, they went on record saying it is NOT reportable...there was a whole thread on it but i cant recall the name =/ its in there somewhere
myself i think it should be bannable, it shows nothing more than you being a douche and it pretty much translates into you suck
[{quoted}](name=Thunder Dreamss,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=zGk6Fi49,comment-id=00050001000000010000,timestamp=2015-07-20T14:07:58.172+0000)
Are you referring to this post?
Or maybe it was this post?
Maybe this one?
Oh, right, Riot has in fact consistently held that "gg ez" is unsportsmanlike at best and reportable at worst.
actually it wasnt any of those, and idk why your hot considering im agreeing with you that its a douche move and should be reportable
but there is a forum where riot said its not a reportable offense nor is it bannable but its very unsportsmanlike...you can be mad if you want but realize that im agreeing with you beside the fact on what riot has said (they may have changed their stance on it since i last checked but i distinctly remember commenting in a forum about it to a red how it should be bannable and he went on record saying what i just did)
It's ultimately the players that decide what they want to report someone for. If they feel offended at "GG EZ" and report the person, then Riot appears to want to back them up, but it's still up to the players to get offended. Likewise with spawn camping. Granted, the number of times I've seen teams spawn camp, then LOSE because they were idiots who cared more about kills than objectives makes for some funny moments, but it's ultimately up to the players to decide to report it.
I don't personally report people for douchey conduct, but it's a stupid thing to do and players who do that should know it. If Riot supports the reports of people for being ***es, then they're less likely to do so, which is probably what Riot was going for, whether players report them for it or not.
But thanks a lot of the legal angle, I hadn't realized that was a thing. Makes a lot of sense, actually.

Thanks, Adrian. Well said +1
It's astounding how many trolls this thread uncovered. They just can't hold back the desire to tell you how much of a pu$$y you are if you're affected by online insults. Meanwhile, sociopaths.
That's because even harmless smack talking gets you 50+ game chat ban lol.
Definitely, I remember when smack talk had to be intelligent and articulate. Now it's just brain dead trolls insulting people w/ vulgar platitudes. Like come on guys, get some better material. Death threats and insulting someones family are just a lack of creativity and you must be punished for your failure to live up to the proper smack talk standards.
"a bloo bloo I can't deal with insults :'("
bloo bloo? what the hell does that mean?
ikr is that some euro thing?? lol
:|
Of course, no one would disagree in the scenario you outline. Why would anyone ever want those highly deserving of bans to continue ruining games? I certainly have no tolerance for death threats and the like. The original post has literally zero content and is merely a self-serving statement fishing for upvotes. It's as bad as troll threads but just with a different angle. It's like me creating a new thread "I sure hope serial killers get caught and punished!" Umm... yeah... really? Thanks for that insight. I'm sure most people had a different opinion about that.
However, before you pat yourself on the back too much, consider that not all bans are just and fair. At the same time, many toxic players know how to skirt the line and actually get regular players punished even for as little as daring to ask for a report. The system has no oversight at the moment and that's the crux of the issue for both sides of the coin.
Yeah, that dude was at least somewhat toxic in that chat log. He almost certainly has more games like it and got banned for a history of toxic behavior. This really is a success story for the automated tribunal, although i think we would all be happier with the old voting tribunal.
The sad thing is that there is people who actually think what they're doing is okay, and that it's the other person's fault.
Personally I never flame others in games, just lowers your chance of winning, but really, so what if someone makes death threats or something? There's no way they could get someone's ip address so there's really no chance at all of them following through.
You seem like a toxic troll
Why would they be harassing you that much in the first place? You just referred to them as kids too, and saying i love getting kids banned sounds pretty toxic.
I guarantee you that you're the offender in 90% of the cases of arguments you experience/
wha? You mean something is acting upon our reports?
Then again, this is a generalization of kids. As a teen myself, I refrain from saying anything in chat. But I've realized there are adults out there as well whose toxicity is punishable. I'm just saying, but don't immediately assume that we're the toxic ones(though usually we are).
Woooo! Team
!
That is pretty much the problem of today's youth. They believe that they are entitled to everything that comes their way, and most do not understand the consequences of their actions or words. And that is something no amount of punishment or reform will fix, only time can.
Harsh Consequences = Less Headaches for everyone (except those who repeatedly break the rules)
BRING BACK THE TRIBUNAL AND PUT ME ON IT
At first it feels a little like sadism, but then you realize it is really just a cyberbully getting off easy. Most of the time, the amount of trash it takes for someone to get a ban could be enough to get them a stint in jail if you really took it that far and reported it to the police. And that has actually happened to toxic league players before.
thats not always the case, sometimes its just anger... deep blind rage. A conscious mind doesn't always have control over that.
i'm not talking death threats and such, but like the complaints and whining along with insults... person is probably just mad, and not actually a jerk when calm. the game is stressful.
Hell yeah dude, I can't stand people who are constantly degrading, pessimistic and just generally assholes. Some people just explode when you make a mistakes whether it's game breaking or not. Just because there are assholes on the internet doesn't mean that it's right to be an asshole... My only problem is when someone says something particularly offensive to me or if someone is harassing just me, one report just isn't enough to get someone banned or warned.

I know right, even when there's more than enough proof. lyte still wants to investigate if the person has been reported enough, like wtf?
because the system can be abused, and they want an accurate system.
being angry, or pessimistic doesn't make you an asshole.
As a person with emotional issues, i think people who are always happy and say its easy to be happy or easy to not be angry/sad are assholes. because if it was so easy dont you think i'd be happy? Its not their intent 'normally' to come off that way, but it does. Conscious intent, makes someone a jerk/asshole. Just because someone has a bad day, or consistently has a bad day doesn't mean they should be exiled. Hell... maybe if the community wasn't so absolutely self centered it might actually help people.

I say this pretty often anymore, because frankly my friend there is a reason they call them YOUR problems.
I'm not your therapist, quit forcing your RL baggage on my gaming xp. Why someone would willingly enter a game slam packed with (occasional) agitating circumstances to 'blow off steam' is beyond me. It's essentially you saying that you want everyone else to be as miserable as you are.

Thats pretty toxic
You use capital letters, you're yelling. Riot please ban obvious troll, is yelling hurts my ears im offended. auto ban system activate
Get rekt kid i lov banning kids! im obv joking, but that's how ridiculous all you people sound/
"Your" gaming experience? Pretty sure this is a team game it isn't only your gaming experience. And I am not saying that I want everyone to be miserable, but people need to understand that not all "toxic behavior" is intentional, and its not easy to keep out of those pitfalls for some people.

My mistake, and I agree with you for the most part. I made myself sound very close-minded and stupid. Although I disagree that Said person who is always happy and thinks that it's easy not to be angry or sad is an asshole because that's someone's opinion. And while I do understand that it's just in some peoples nature to be pessimist, those people should at least try to crack a smile when their teammate says something encouraging to them.
