Can't Duo placements with my friend?

My friend and I both ended last season at Plat 2. I tried to invite him to a game this new season for our placements together and It said he was ineligible. Do we have to play our placements solo?

edit : here is both of our op.ggs http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=Yung+Ever http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=ahornycorndog
