Ideas, rework for Janna, Nami (enhancers) to bring her back into the game.

So as a Janna lover, main, otp and player I like to discuss some ideas and problems how we could bring Janna back to the rift, specially for Esport.

Preseason is just around the corner and I think it's a good time to discuss possible problems and ideas.

So far the main support archetypes that exist are:

  • cc tanks (naut, Leona, Blitz, allistar...)
  • ranged dmg supports that where designed to support (zyra, senna, lux, Morgana...)
  • "autofill midlaners" (syndra, brand, veigar, Annie, anivia, velkoz...)
  • enchanters/utility supports (Janna, Nami, soraka, lulu)

Unfortunately enchanter are dead :( [sg-janna]

The main problem is we have to much dmg and mobility in game, in the one shot meta the enchanter can't do anything compared to the tanks who atleast survive the one shots and can then cc, and compared to the other dmg supports who can also one-shot.

The thing is enchancers needs a tool to get tanks, or a mechanic to prevent getting oneshotted to be viable again and to enhance.

you can't enhance, if u are dead

So we need to find ideas how we can make enhancers, specially Janna and Nami better to bring them back to the rift! Without getting a 1 button ardent meta back.

I think the key Aspekt that janna's shield gets partly resettled if she pokes is a good idea, this prevent players from just pressing shield and motivates them to poke and play active. I'd like to see a different feature on Nami too.

We need to find a middleway to make enhancers strong again, force aktiv game play and at the same time deny the option that the role or item is viable mid or top lane.

My first idea is to give ardent censor a stack mechanic, each time you shield or heal an ally you get a stack that increases shield / heal power by a small amount, if you collect like 50 stacks you also unlock the ability that one shield casted every minute (60 sec CD) ignores the next cc ability (similar to sivir shield) (since you only get stacks on allys it's not possible to abuse on a solo lane)

My second idea is to give janna's shield an extra effect to get some bonus movement speed when applyed so we have something useful against the mobility meta. Another good aspect would be to add a reverse "Athens unholy grail" for shields and heals.

If you heal an ally you also shield him based on absorbed dmg If you shield an ally you also heal him based on absorbed dmg. Like a reverse Athens that get stacks if u shield/heal and then exchange the power. It could be also used to deny possible oneshots.

Another idea would be the add milestones on namis/janna's passiv if you use you heal/shield x times you get a permanent bonus effect for the game. It could be bonus mr%armor, range, tenacity or even the spell absorb I talked about above.

**I like to know what you think is a nice option to bring Nami and Janna back to the game. I can't remember the last time I saw a Janna or Nami other then my self. **

Nami is one of the few old champs that hasnt been reworked and does not need a rework

Uh Nami definitely doesn't need help and even as a support main the only help I'd say Janna might need is having a bit of slow resist while her W is granting her the movement speed boost

Enchanters are very comp specific, you have to watch both your team comp and the enemy team in lobby to see if you'll be able to do anything. Sucks when you're first pick, I know, but aside from a couple stupid "I do everything well and have no weakness" champs who shouldn't exist, that's generally the case for everyone.

Aside from avoiding enemy comps with more than one assassin, and trying to have at least one tank or some form of reasonable peel on your team, you also have to watch your own positioning and be ready to go with more defensive rune choices or buy items like zhonya or banshee. I main support at a high-ish level (Plat 2 currently) and even though I tend to lean toward what you describe as autofill mid, simply because I don't actually trust my midlaner to be putting out good AP damage- Nami was my first real main and I still have pretty decent success with her.

Honestly a lot of times it's better to go full AP on her than heal/shield because AP not only boosts W's damage, but also gives scaling effectiveness on every bounce. It starts out at a negative % per bounce, but if you get around 200 AP it starts to go positive and you can really see the difference if you get max bounces in a teamfight. I've done the math and checked my results in practice tool, even though the build path is more painful on a support budget, if you can get Archangels + Rabadons, you'll have better heals than with literally every heal/shield item in the entire game- And your W will be doing about three or four times as much damage, plus the extra bounce percentages for both in teamfights like I said above.

The only real problem with this build is that you'll get a lot of "?" pings from your team as they ping through your items. But honestly you get to the point where you're just like who cares lol
