[GAMEPLAY] Suggestions for the new HUD
Hello everybody.
I play this game for a while now (since mid-late S1 I think) so I'm used to the actual HUD.
At least next week, the interface will completely change and thus change the way we are playing. After watching screenshots & comments, mostly from Reddit, I feel like I must share some my ideas to improve even more this pretty HUD and why I think this should be implanted.
This isn't a hate thread at all, I think I will need time to adapt to it but overall it's nice and improve a lot of things.
To illustrate my proposals, I took the image from the Reddit's user "ayjtr".
1 - So my first suggestion is highlighted by the white zone on the image.
I think the target frame should be there in the new HUD. In the previous HUD, it was not necessary nor disturbing to have it on the top left because informations was scattered on all the screen like :
top left for quick informations from my allies (health, resources, my target), my personal informations on the centre and the minimap on the bottom right. It felt natural because it was logic. But with the new HUD that emphasis on having all informations on the bottom, having the target frame on the same place as before feels really weird to me (and I am a veteran so imagine for new players). I even think some players will not even notice that the frame will appear when they'll click on their target. Secondly, the bottom left is the right place to put it because the new HUD freed that space to allow purple team to see things and since the target frame isn't a permanent frame it will not impair anyone and in the middle of a fight, the frame will not be in the way.
2 - This suggestion is highlighted with the green zone.
I read that the green color on modified stats will no longer exist and will be like a regular stat, I strongly disagree with this and I don't know why Riot modified this really ...
- This helped me to verify quickly if I picked the right runes & masteries without having to hover on their stats.
- This allowed me to estimate which runes & masteries the enemy picked without having to hover on their stats.
This affect my decisions making since by the time I hover on the enemy's stats he might be out of vision or the fight might start already without me knowing what he decided to play... It affect the laning phase too because depending on that stats, I know if my opponent will have trouble last hitting or not and thus I can pressure him, etc ... This is really the change I understand the less.
3 - This suggestion is hightlighted by the yellow line.
This addition would help a lot in decision making too, I think we should see our allies XP the same way we see our XP, the line represent where I think it should be added. Knowing without asking or wondering if our ally is near 6 or not helps to quickly make a decision about gank or not to gank.
4 - This suggestion is inside the target frame (yes another one concerning this thing :D)
It's from ayjtr mostly and I think it's really great, I don't know if this is the case already because I don't use the target frame that much, but I would use it more often for sure if thsi is added :
We should see what are the opponent's passive & spells with their base dmg + the bonus dmg from the stats & stuff and their cooldown (CDR included).
- It will help new players to understand what each champion do and at which rate.
- It will help veteran players to remember some CD and to estimate the dmg they might take if they engage the fight.
/!\ We should see the maximum CD (CDR included) on hover without the countdown we have on their own spell, it would be too easy otherwise.
5 - I don't know if it's possible on the new HUD, but something I badly want too is to scale anything on the HUD individually. For instance, I want the minimap to be max scale while my main HUD beeing the smallest with my allies icons beeing medium scaled, etc ...
TL;DR : Some suggestions mostly for QoL and to avoid regressions. Also to help new players.
Let me know what you think and if Riot can read this and add this would be really great ! :D
Have a nice day.
