Nidalee is still a problem.

If I recall correctly the changes to Nidalee were focused around making her cat form more rewarding while lessening her constant harassment with spears that could destroy team fights if someone got hit by one. Before her rework, we can all agree, her spears were terrifying. She would sit in the back lines and toss javelins rapidly until someone important got hit and then the team would go in and it would be over. After her rework... It's still the same. Nidalee spears still hit for over a thousand damage through 200+MR, they still instill a sense of dread and they can still ruin entire team fights. Now she has the kit and damage of an assassin (Gap closer, high mobility, high burst damage, execute), with the resilience of an average top-laner and the poke of a long-ranged mage. Couple all of this with a champion whose kit contains a lot of disengage (eg: Janna) and you're left in a very frustrating situation where you try to counter her poke with a strong initiation and just get completely cockblocked. It's not healthy, it's not fun to play against and it's still a problem.

Nidalee can be dealt with if you're not playing someone she hard counters. Janna is designed for extremely heavy disengage, so if you try beating her with an engage comp you may have a bad time. Engage comps will find these two nearly impossible to deal with, which is why you need other team comps to handle them. It's a game of rock paper scissors really, and if you pick the wrong one you'll lose.

It's like trying to put a sphere through a square hole, if you're getting frustrated when it doesn't work you're missing something that's right in front of you.

Nidalee is way more manageable now. Before her rework all she had to do was land her Q and half of your health would instantly disappear. Now you have a window of time to react. If she's still doing that, you fed the fuck out of her, and that's your problem, not Riot's.

But once you're in game, you have the team comp you have. What do you do in that situation? There's only so much itemization can do, and I'd like to think that games aren't completely decided in champion select.

No, but I remember there being a small period where AD Nidalee top was popular, then she seemed to drop off for quite a while and now I'm seeing a huge resurgence of AP Nidalee in ranked play. I had actually forgotten she existed until this unpleasant reminder.

Against a marksman a Nidalee with only a morellonomicon was hitting spears for more than half HP. I won't disagree that a fed Nidalee is a problem, but the longer the game goes the bigger a problem the spears become.

You might as well not even bother mentioning MR lol. Anti-Tank items have become so grossly overpowered now it doesnt even matter. If she has a void staff + sorc boots you might as well consider all your MR null and void. That goes for any mage not just nidalee either
