Strange Problem in LoL, I keep dying!

Okay so I know the title is kinda weird and you're probably thinking "Oh, everyone dies!" but like not that kind. I've been a SMITE player for 2 years and a HoTS player for 1 year. I started playing League last summer and got kinda bored and now I have come back to it. But it's so weird, I prefer ranged people overall for some reason so I started playing people like Cassiopeia and Ashe. I cannot survive for more than a minute. I've played with bots, but it's completely different with them because they do things slow and let you damage them. I get absolutely thrashed by any melee or poking champion I lane with. I don't know what this champions name was but an X kept coming up and he teleported to me and thats half of my HP gone. I can't seem to get used to the game unlike the others. Suggestions I've tried is positioning better, they just tower dive and get away with it. Buying defense, they just shred it. It's honestly made me consider quitting League already and I haven't even started :c

Possibly, I'm just not used to all the fast pace and damage poke. Whenever I try and poke back, nothing goes my way at all.

that's exactly your problem then. when you don't know the abilities of your enemy you also don't know how to play against them.

so you should use the time in loading screen for example to look up the abilities of your lane opponent.

I'm guessing in Smite and those other games, burst damage is not a thing. It is in League. Nearly every single champion can be itemized to burst if that is so desired. You need to get used to that. Get used to the idea that 80% of the champions here can chunk you for more than half your HP in almost no time.

If you're a low level, you're probably playing against smurfs, which are high level players who make new accounts and stomp all the new players.

The "X" appearing on you guy is called Zed, simply buy a zhonya's hourglass if it fits on your champion. Any time you see that X on you use your item's active ability by pressing its slot number.
