Is Ruby Sightstone worth rushing as a tank support?

I rush the basic blue sightstone then build other items. Honestly Ruby isn't worth it until you have 1 or 2 Active items in your inventory, otherwise you have an item effect that doesn't do anything.

I think we see it in high elo games mostly for the # of wards given. You do eventually want to have the item for it's passive CDR on item actives, but you may need the wards now. Honestly though, I find myself rushing this item only when I'm at a specific amount of gold, and I know I'll win a fight / continue snowballing.

it does give neutral defense (HP) but in all honesty you can get more HP from other more useful sources, the passive will be worth if you build items with actives but still I don't think rushing it is a good choice, the other support item lines are far more useful in the short term

That depends, on my tanky supports i do and will occasionally do the ruby sightstone for the extra shields..... not good for a 2nd item rush, but 3rd or 4th with boots in..... it makes it worth it.

Ruby Sightstone is worth getting after you build one or two other items with actives. It's more of a late game item.

I do, but that's just personal preference. I like having the extra health and CDR from FotM for early trades. But it's really up to personal preference.

On people like Braum, who have health scaling, sure. On other tank supports...maybe, I'd rather get my gold item tho.

The main reason i asked was cause I looked all almost all the pro supports, they tend to rush it almost asap, is it only for the extra ward or a hidden op reason?
