If you had a better ranked system people wouldn't be nearly as toxic

mUbBdWebb··14 votes·2,082 views

Let me explain

  • If you crush in a game and lose it feels horrible

  • if you are trying your best and others are not it feels like shit

  • if you consistently perform well and only have a 55 percent win rate this would be considered "good" buit FEELS bad and it's too slow

  • If you were graded not only on your wins and losses but on how well you perform on a certain champ when compared to everyone else that plays that champ or that role people would focus on themselves and know that even if they have a shit team or an asshole that there is a reason to try. It would prevent people from running it down, afking, doing anything that would hurt the rating metrics and if they did do those things, the game would kick them out of that elo quicker.

  • you need a better system cmon... it's been years do you not know how toxic your SYSTEM is?

People have been toxic before this ranked system, people have been toxic before League of Legends began, and people will continue to be toxic no matter what the state of the game is like.

but it would be better for those that care about going up ranks to be able to actually focus on things that matter to improve LP/leagues

Only thing that matters is whether or not the enemy nexus blows up. No one strategy is more valuable than another in that aspect.

Imagine what a game state would be like if mastery grades effected your ranking: Players will just ignore actual objectives to bolster up their grades, not focusing on actually winning the game.

You top laner will just avoid all the fights to keep a good KDA. Your Mid will just roam around stealing farm to keep their CS high for a better ranking.

That is a much unhealthier game state than getting a few underperforming players every now and again.

Toxicity sure seems to matter more then nexuses blowing up. It affects others' performances, and sometimes the performance of the one being toxic.

Furthermore, he's right! There's a reason people are toxic. It's because "Progress" Doesn't make you feel better about the micro game. While I wouldn't go as far as to pair Mastery levels with some sort of tier system, the brutality of the climb does create toxicity. And yes. we Often have to carry entire teams.

It's not just a few underperforming players right now. It's every game!. I have near a 70% win rate right ow in 50 games. I have progressed 1 rank in all that. The people I both play with AND against are horrible. EVERY GAME. and they feel worse, because I'm in their games....

If you are that much better then the enemy team, you should not be having troubles using your power in each game over the enemy to take advantages across the map. If you aren’t, then you haven’t reached the stage where you can progress yet.

Do you not even read the posts you reply to?

I literally have a 70% Win rate. Not in 10 games. in FIFTY+ Games. The new ranked system is holding my rank artificially low and I'm just stomping the crap out of these guys.

I'm at least 5 ranks lower than where I historically "Fill" plateau'd when ranks weren't segregated by role. I am Diamond II Support/Mid.

I am literally destroying Bronzies atm.

타사대왕3 votes

I dont know what you're taking this community for but even the dumbest of dumb can tell you that if you are a high diamond mid/support player you can play whatever the fuck you want wherever the fuck you want and still carry games at least to gold and then you might have to start playing champs in their respective positions and even then you can hold at least an 80% winrate.

You literally have a 67% winrate in bronze. Before making claims about your elo you gotta understand how huge the difference of skill between high diamond and bronze. I have friends who just made smurfs and grinded them from iron to plat with 97+% winrate. Thats what a diamond player looks like. Not fucking 67 in bronze

Illabethe3 votes

lmfao. depends on what they play. My money's on your "friends" playing reset assassins who can be abused to basically 1v5 without reprisal when snowballed, like Irelia Katarina Kayn Khazix RekSai Shaco Rengar Fizz

I don't. I play champs with limited reset viability.

I also play them in nontraditional ways. Look at my itemization/runes :)

Your "Friends" are building traditional builds, using traditional runes, and actually want their accounts to climb <3

They also played one role, if they already ranked up that much...... I'm playing 4-5 (just starting adc...... 12/1/14 Jinx with Grasp of the Undying is fun.....)

P.S. Level 9 account with "Friends?" I'm just as skeptical.

P.P.S You want my honest opinion why i have any losses at all? I have a tendency to get pretty toxic to low tier players. If I'm adcing and my support walks right into the opposing adc/support several times, I'm not too kind to that. If an opposing Blitzcrank invades a jungle leash, and someone dies, and the other two people there STILL go in and try to skirmish, and also feed, I'm pretty cranky to that. If top lane 0/6's to a Yasuo whose obviously smurfing, or to an Irelia, I get noisy.

In other words.... I probably lose more games at low elo simply because I spent a little to much time critiquing and a little too little time hyper carrying. I generally respect players at Gold II - Diamond I, so I say a lot less.

One guy was top lane main played full ap raka mid with 80% winrate and stopped playing raka mid in gold 3 (low gold i dont remember). Other guy was a jg main who played ad janna top and kaisa mid with 90% winrate but then again he hit master on his main while he was smurfing so maybe you cant count my second testimonial as the skill gap between dia 2 - master is also pretty high.

You do realize both those tricks are about 3 seasons old and not hard to pull off at all? I still occasionally ADC Ahri .

Nonmeta/Meta Smurfing tactics.

Not like Soraka doesn't dominate 1v1 duels.....

and yet none of those champions are meta or even considered good in those roles. If you are that much better than everyone you play against then you can pick whatever you want, build almost anything on that champion and still have such an outlandish and insane advantage over the enemy team even if they picked the most broken champion in the game.

Illabethe3 votes

The fact that you didn't understand the nuance of what I said suggests you really aren't friends with smurfs.

Soraka top AS A SMURF is a meta smurf position. It's not part of the MAIN meta. It's something done across the board by people who generally know what nonmeta champs/supports can trade in a role but normally aren't played there. Soraka top is a "right of passage" pick, because Top champs generally can't trade her. She's extremely easy to snowball top, because all you have to do is level Q, and take in the rewards.

I do over 30k damage a game with Soraka as SUPPORT. I Don't know about you :)

And no. You really can't. There are specific champs you can carry by resets. There are specific champs you can carry by abusing a champion specific trading mechanism which creates early leads and starves the other players. Not every champ in every position can smurf.

The dude is in his mid 50's in level. Of course he doesn't understand what he is saying. He also tries to use the voting system to 'win' arguments. You won't get anywhere with him. Votes > Logic for him. Basically you and I are in our high 100's. He's not even close to our levels. Yet, he is acting as if he played as many hours as us. It's quite sad.

Yeah, good luck having a Soraka push lanes and destroying enemy nexus alone.

Except it exacerbates it. There is a reason Overwatch, Dota 2, and League of Legends are known for being toxic over games like Call of Duty and CS;GO now. Clearly the OP stated (Since you didn't read it, I'll say it again. Clearly) nearly as toxic. In other words, less toxic. Read the thread before posting next time.

i think a way to remove allot of the toxic is to get rid of ranked entirely. people are toxic cause they think they are superior with their gold ranks and that silver and bronze players are absolute trash while plat players should be worshiped. by removing ranked entirely everyone is on an even playing field and have no solid reason to look up to or down on other players.

more proof that ranked should be removed. by having no elos, ranks, whatever, everyone is an even playing field.

TheUrbanKitsune2 votes

People who think they're a superior human being because they are better at someone else at a game just means they're a shitty person, honestly. That being said, higher ranked players are superior to lower ranked players in the context of the game and skill level. Removing ranks would not make things less toxic, it would not magically put everyone on an even playing field. All removing ranked would serve to do is piss off the player base and destroy the competitive side of League. Fact of the matter is some people will still be better or worse at the game than others, and because of the nature of online games there would still be toxicity and people would still look down on players performing poorly in game regardless of whether they deserve it or not. If you don't like ranked, don't play it. The system isn't perfect but it is not the reason toxicity exists.

Inkling Commando2 votes

players are still competitive in norms where ranks mean nothing. so removing ranked would not completely remove the competitive side of the game.

TheUrbanKitsune2 votes

It is not the same AT ALL. Normal games are soooooooooooo much more laid back. and even in norms you have an MMR to prevent you from getting your ass handed to you by diamond+ skill players. Without that games would be even more unbalanced and chaotic than they already are. (I assume you are around Silver or below because of your previous statement)

cause they think they are superior with their gold ranks and that silver and bronze players are absolute trash while plat players should be worshiped.

Platinum players are not worshiped, btw. Platinum is widely considered to still be garbage tier.

I tried even in normals. I didn't give a shit for ranked because of how garbage MMR is.

TheUrbanKitsune2 votes

You trying in normals ≠ everyone trying in normals... Trust me that like it or not, normals are A LOT less competitive.

And lmao, normals have even more garbage mmr than ranked. At least in ranked usually the team mmr's usually average out. Do you know how many norms I've seen hardstomped because normal game mmr doesn't care about making even teams when a plat+ player queues with their silver friends? xD

You said people don't try in normals. I proved otherwise. I don't know why you are defending a loss here.

players are still competitive in norms where ranks mean nothing.

The point here is people will transfer their seriousness to norms. It isn't complicated to understand.

Riot has taken the ELO system that was made for 1v1 or TEAM (read that as a team that stays the same for a whole season) and applies it to a game where Teams are completely Random where some players play to troll where Smurfs play to stay in one rank. All of these 100% can NOT work in the ELO system.

It works for LCS because they are teams that dont change for a whole season and the players all are playing to win.

Riot is STUPID to think it will ever work in a SoloQ environment.

My wins and losses have nothing to do with my skill or the skill of my team. It is a slave to 50/50. This is why there are cheaters all over the place.

k it isn't 50/50.... ive been banned a lot. most of my accs i can get to diamond under 70 games and with a 65-75 percent win rate. after that though it becomes substantially harder due to the really really horrible systems of grading/rating gain.

the thing is though in gold 5/plat 5 (now 4) the same is true. unless you are substantially better than your current bracket you will only slowly go up and its incredibly unenjoyable and frustrating. from my pov its hard to be substantially better than masters (thats pro level) and for anyone else trying to improve it must be SUPER frustrating dealing with these ppl in gold 4 that are forever stuck and trolling

5050BS1 votes

And the Constant WAVE of SMurfs that out right Rune the Ranked system

5050BS1 votes

Oh also it is 50/50 they based it off of the ELO system. That is about pushing everyone to 50% wins. In a True ELO system it works because its 1v1 or a team (that does not change for a season) vs another team (that does not change for a season).

ELO CANT not work how Ranked is with SoloQ

This is part of the mistake that Riot makes when they believe they are doing what will make them the most money. Consistently, this is a problem with companies that believe new players/viewers/subscribers or whatever is how you make money. You make them feel like they are good even when they are terrible instead of giving them incentives to get better.

Done251 votes

It's really awful feeling when you get that one team. The team that has three players with a combined score of 2/27, or the Sivir who gets out pushed by a friggen Cait.

THIS!

7 seasons, I had no warning, no ban on toxicity. 7 years.

Since season 7, after countless warnings, I managed to get a 14-day ban last season!

Why? Because ranked is a mess and I can't hold my nerves after I get serial trolls or clearly outmatched teammates in a row. Before at least the game was not this frustrating and bad teammates could be mitigated, two people could carry a game. Now it's a joke, the worst player most of the time loses the game. They need to either balance matchmaking or balance the game in a way to be less frustrating

6lack Superman1 votes

This game tends to try to pacify players. "We don't like people to lose." There is nothing wrong with losing a game if the game was gg wp, most of the games aren't gg wp, they are gg 1/7 mid laner on my team, who just continue to die over and over and over to the point where that fed player will eventually rotate to come dive you under your turret with his whole team. When a game ends at 5mins, it's a problem. Yes. A game can end in 5 mins if Nasus or even a Kassadin gets fed early. You won't be able to stop them unless you send 3 people. Guess what? Low elo players don't have that type of coordination to stop a player who got very fed early. Also, because of turret plating, you get punished for leaving your lane and helping/roaming and if you're in a lane that counters you or plays very passive, roaming will actually cause a negative result.
