well......gold 5 is a highly sought after rank, possibly THE most sought after rank (not wishing, but actually trying to reach) when considering the proportion of the playerbase in silver and bronze.
you really have to be beyond gold 5 level...say gold 3 material to get to gold 5 without much trouble. If you are marginally gold 5 and thus just as easily silver 1, well, I would expect you to need some luck to hit gold 5. That, or a series of games in which you really go try hard. And even then, a touch of bad luck can really throw you off.
this oughta be common knowledge by this point, but ill say it anyways. seek to improve your individual skill and rank will follow. simple as that. stopping blaming your teammates is a huge step and possible prerequisite towards making significant improvements. It's quite easy to spot out others' flaws (in this case, especially in silver/gold elo which is littered with mistakes from second 1). This will also distract you from the slightly more difficult task of recognizing your own flaws, which is necessary to improve.
hope i didn't sound too pedantic, but thought id share my view from someone who has steadily climbed from silver 3 to plat 5. in the whole run, breaking through into gold 5 probably took the most effort. After that, i was somewhat satisfied and less focused on the end goal of rank, which i think further helped me to improve and made for a smooth journey to plat. Again, Gold 1 is highly competitive and i didn't reach plat 5 until my mmr began matching me with plat 4-2s. and yeah, this account is gold 1, i don't post on my other account :) but i think a difference of 1 tier isn't too unbelievable
