Role Definitions
Ok i am new league of legends who just started a hour ago. I am not familiar with all the "roles" like support, carry, jungle and stuff like that so if you someone could define all this terminology that would be nice.

Top : Biggest dick on the map. Will chase everything.
Jungle : Will tell you he's on the way but will never actually show up. He'll be there though, "right after this raptor camp"
Mid : The biggest babies of them all. But if you feed them, change them, and ping the MIA's of your lane, they will return the favor with a W. As a side note, some eat paste and will never deliever the dubya.
ADC : The biggest bitches on the map. Most likely to AFK in first 6 minutes. Will say they'll mute you, won't actually. They seek the correct moment to tilt, roll face on keyboard, and slander your name as much as possible.
Support : These are your stoners of high school. They sit back, relax, and "go whatever way the wind blows." They don't give a shit what you say. They just wanna get these wards done and roll up the next J. Will be nice to you if you're nice to them.
For the most part they refer to where the player/champion will be spending a majority of the game during the laning phase, which is usually the first 3/4 of the match.
Of the ones you mentioned, Support and "carry", or ADC (Attack Damage Carry) will play in the bottom lane.
Supports are typically low gold dependent, and ADC is gold dependent, so ADC tends to claim a large majority of the gold earned from CS (creep score, or last hitting minions). In turn, supports will provide utility and protection for their ADC.
I wanted to be specific about "ADC" when referring to the "carry" because in most cases they are designated as the main physical damage dealer on the team. However if there was only one physical damage dealer, or the whole team deals physical damage, your enemy team will be at an advantage. Part of good strategy is to be sure that there is a healthy mix of both physical and magic damage.
Typically the magic damage carry is supplied by the mid lane. Mages are typically gold/item/level dependent, so laning alone allows them to maximize the value they can get form their lane. Sometimes you will also see assassins played in the mid lane. Both assassins and mages tend to have a lot of utility that can be good for roaming and making plays in other lanes. Being in the middle of the map makes it easy for them to do this without being missing from their lane for a very long time.
The top lane is usually where the team's tank will be during the laning phase. They are normally not AS gold dependent, but they more often have health/mana sustain and have the ability to provide sustained damage. Top lane matchups tend to be tank vs tank, and will generally turn into a shoving match. Riot has had issues in the past with making the top lane more interesting, and they have made some progress, but I personally feel like they aren't quite there yet. That does not mean that playing in the top lane is neither fun, nor rewarding.
And lastly, there is the Jungle role. If you notice, I have mentioned the gold/experience dependencies of each role. There are 3 lanes, 5 champions, and one lane is already shared. It is not very common, but sometimes this 5th champion will also play in the top lane. You will still see this in bot matches because Riot hasn't gotten around to programming bots to do this, but very very rarely in PVP. Instead, this 5th player will most often get their gold and experience from the Jungle. Being in the jungle for the laning phase often means that you are unseen by the enemy. This gives junglers the ability to provide and relieve pressure on the lanes as well. This is called ganking. Junglers are also typically in charge of controlling objectives such as the Red and Blue buffs, vision, Rift Herald, Dragons, and Baron.
Now that I have given a very general description of the "meta", I want to be clear to point out that the meta is IN NO WAY set in stone. It is absolutely subject to change, even in a single match.
