As soon as the season started, I solo queue'd my placement matches into bronze 4, and hadn't really played ranked since then until the past two weeks. I then proceded play until I got my first win in my promos to bronze 3. I started to duo queue with a silver 1 friend that I normaly play norms with, to help ensure my promotion. I liked being able to duo queue with a friend that was in Silver I, that way, we would get pretty good team mates, and an enemy team that was in Bronze I - Silver IV.

Shortly After climbing and promo-ing my way from bronze 3 into bronze 2, my silver 1 friend got into his promos for gold 1. No considering the gap, we continued into his promotion games and and he got into gold 5. We agreed to play several more games that night until I got to bronze 1. That didnt happen. It gave us the message which is in the attatchment.

As it stands, I'm at 65lp in bronze II, and he's at gold 5 with 0lp.

If he would have dodged his promo matches (which each count as a loss), we could still be duo'ing. How is this just? I was duo'ing with him when we were farther appart then we are than now.

tl;dr A bronze V player can duo with a Silver I, But a bronze I can't duo with a Gold V. There's a bigger gap between B5 and S1 than B1 and G5.

Im curious as to why you think it'd be fair for the other 3 gold teammates to have a Bronze 2 in their team just because you want to duo with that friend.

It wouldn't be fair for players at high levels to carry someone below the skill level

Silver is just as bad as bronze they just know how to ward better

It would become more complex that way "who can duo with who?" Right now it's pretty simple. 1 tier above and below. Imo, it should be stricter. I think a bronze 1 shouldn't be able to duo with a silver 1. It creates games with a large gap in skill level that the soloQ players didn't ask for. If I play soloQ, I want to face someone of my own skill level. Not a diamond 1 who happens to duo with a low plat V (by this I mean one with MMR below platinum lvl) so he can stomp his lane and carry. Yes, we still have a fair chance to win because the plat V's lack of skill can also be abused, but it makes it **LESS FUN **for other players.

Riot made it so that you cannot duo with anyone if there is a rank tier between you as a means to help stop duo queue elo boosting. If you really want to duo with your friend then make the climb to silver on your own and then keep going.

stop relying on your friend to carry you and get good

They may have changed it within the last year or two. I am pretty sure it was last season where I faced a bronze 3 and gold 3 player in the same game. I was silver 2-3. It worked in my team's favor that game because I was adc and the bronze 3 player was the enemy adc. I know there can be a difference in skill and rank does not mean everything, but we took advantage of it. My support and I got super fed off basically the bronze player and his support, which made the game pretty easy to win. The only thing we had to worry about was not letting his Gold 3 friend get too fed mid.

I think it is a good thing they do not allow a 2 tier gap. In my experience playing with bronze friends or in this case against 2 players who had a significant difference in rank, the games are just less fun unless people are a similar rank.
