Adcs in the current meta.

I'd like to hear opinions and constructive criticism regarding ADCs, in my opinion the current meta for ADCs is very strict. A handful of ADCs are useful, and a handful of items are actually useful as well. I'd like to talk about their winning conditions, their abilities, and what they rely on in order to feel strong.

I'm going to list my top 5 ADCs and top 5 items you just can't pass up in 90% of games:

  1. Vayne. A complete monster, her winning conditions are pretty safe as you only need a couple of items to do big damage in small bursts while dancing around people. Tank shredder and squishy kill potential is high.
  2. Draven. Get a few kills in lane, and watch your steroid'ed damage chunk squishies every auto. Doesn't have the godlike kill potential Vayne has on tanks, but his damage is just insane and works as a deterrent to any tank who is thinking of diving in. If left alone and well positioned, will carry a fight with ease.
  3. Caitlyn. Lane bully and insane control. Boasting a 650 range, she doesn't even need to bother getting close to her targets in order to kill them. Her traps as well as dash provide big damage to anyone caught in them, and her ult is just icing on the cake.
  4. Jinx. Huge damage in small bursts, Q gives her increased range as well as attack speed. Poking and trading potential high, needs a bit of help from a good support to get going in lane, if left alone in teamfights will do massive damage to every body. Ult allows her to pick off targets from across the map.
  5. Sivir/Twitch. Both of these champs depend on REALLY good game knowledge, positioning, and help from their support/team to get going. Winning conditions aren't as easy smooth as the champs above, but in the hands of really good players these two will cause lots of damage in teamfights.

Top 5 items:** Infinity edge, Phantom Dancer, Guardian Angel, Bloodthirster OR Blade of the Ruined King,** and.. Last whisper? Deaths dance? Scimitar? I purposely left Guinsoo's Rageblade out. As it is only build on a few champs, most notably being Vayne, it is a powerful item in its own right; but the point of this thread is to name items who are vital to the bulk of the ADCs, and Guinsoo's Rageblade is a specialized item which is only useful for some ADCs.

The rest of items which are seen built by ADCs are either for the sole purpose of needing to be strong in a specialized task, suboptimal, or for some other reason I can't think of right now.

The rest of the ADC roster feels... To say the least, Subpar to any of the other ADCs in my top 5. The winning conditions of some, per say, Varus, Kogmaw, Jhin, Kai'Sa, Lucian... Anyone else forgot Kalista was even a champion? All look very dim when faced with junglers, mid laners, and top laners who can 100 to 0 you if you make a single misstep. Being flashed on and blown out of a fight is something that happens to anybody, but most specially to these ADCs which have little (or zero) escapes and rely on auto attacking for long periods of times to do damage. Their range is lacking, most of the time when playing these champs I feel discouraged to even go up to a fight and try to do damage, as it puts me in range of mages, bruisers and tanks who don't need to land a skill shot in order to immobilize me and set me up for an easy kill. Most of these champs don't have a reliable CC in order to be able to trade or stop someone in their tracks, and unfortunately in the current meta you almost wish every ADC had access to a CC.

"What is the point of this thread?" "There's enough ADCs you can play, so why complain?" "Fuck this role, i main it and i hate it"

The reason for this thread is to maybe bring clarity on the state of ADCs, for a new player to learn something, or to be able to figure out a pattern in the problem (or no problem at all) in the ADC roster. Lets try to be civil here and discuss in a properly manner. The highest rank I've ever reached is Platinum 4, and if you have knowledge I am unaware of, please do share it with me so I can learn. These are only opinions from my own experiences, and I am willing to listen to any advice you have to give.

"I disagree with you because of -such and such reason-" is what works best, and it will help me (as well as others) see something we may be missing.

If you've read this far, thank you. Please comment and make conversation, I'd like to hear your opinions, but most importantly, I'd like to LEARN and improve from your advice.

nerf vayne already.

Rework or remove rageblade first. Then see whether vayne still needs nerfing.

3-hit passives are a meme, but they're also a frequently used design principle because the time to build up to the 3rd hit provides counterplay. A 2-hit passive is nowhere near as healthy a design, especially on a champ that also has a cheap short CD reset.

the time to build up to the 3rd hit provides counterplay

its literally one second.

2.5 as = 5 attacks over 2 seconds + tumble = two procs in two seconds. she can accomplish this relatively early with lethal tempo. even without phantom hits.

it doesnt provide counterplay on a ranged champion who builds for attack speed cap. no fucking champion in this game except for maybe Leblanc can get into vaynes auto attack range, deal damage to her and back out before she gets a proc off. if 99% of the champions arent actually mobile, ranged and bursty enough to play around the 3 hit passive, then it doesnt have counterplay.

why is silver bolts even a passive and reliable power, where melee champions with the same mechanic only have situational power? it doesnt make sense. fuck that champion.

nerf vayne. just get her out of the game until she gets reworked and counterplay added, or leave her a garbage tier pick outside her highly specific niche, which would be a double tank comp and a juggernaut on the enemy team.

neeeeerf vayne. holy shit, its not hard. just olaf her. with her current kit she can never reach above 47% winrate and be balanced at the same time.

if you have 2.5 as (which is bullshit) than using Q makes you actually lose damage because of the animation

you really have no knowledge about the champion, but you've been like that since 5 years now so it's fine :^)

holy shit man. as if that 0.2 seconds for the animation matters at that point. great, instead of 1 second, i have 1.1 seconds to get into her range, trade with her and retreat to drop the stacks.

but keep defending that brokenass champion.

it actually does, it's funny how you try to cover your lack of knowledge with absurd law, if you lose damage then YOU LOSE DAMAGE don't even try to say the opposite

but keep defending that brokenass champion

I'm not, I'm just pointing out bullshit that's the only thing I do everytime on the boards

ADC's should get blown up if a melee champ gets in range particularly immobile ones. This can't change especially when in top lane you can face shit like vayne who can self peel if you try and engage, chunk you with autos and W procs if you even attempt to trade or CS as she has range AS well as the fact she outscales most toplaners. A lategame hypercarry shouldn't come online at two items, especially with bullshit % max hp true damage. Theres always only going to be like 4 or 5 top ADC's they all serve the same purpose, auto the enemy to do damage. Which means unless you have some utility like ashe if someone autos better why chose a weaker one.

All on the topic of " range of mages, bruisers and tanks who don't need to land a skill shot in order to immobilize me " what bloody skill-shot does vayne have to knock melee out of range (hitting a wall is a bonus), oh yeah none. There are very few champs in the game that have ranged point and click hard CC on them like ryze and fiddle.

Also no i didn't think people forgot about kalista she HAD to stay in the gutter due to her AA-dash passive which is too strong in pro and irritating as hell to deal with without mobility, as well as her ult to save support/or to engage.

Everything except a full AD building Draven is

  1. Beta.
  2. Very easy to play with an enchanter Support/once you get items. (Don't try to tell me how hard Jinx/Sivir or Vayne currently are.)

Vayne needs her q to have a longer cooldown and w to do less damage. no compensation. xayahs insanely underated tbh shes problem one of the strongest right now but shes never played. item 3031 > any zeal item> item 3036 >item 3508 . she doesn't really need too much attack speed because lethal tempo and her now overstat w attack speed buff. Kallista should be buffed. I think shes the only champion whose passive is litterally a debuff. Caitlyn needs massive nerfs. take away 50 range. Take away a lot of that insane head shot damage. Casting e and hitting it shouldn't give her another head shot. Ult needs to lose a lot of damage. that champion is a lane bully who litterally SCALES into late game right now. and no one can touch her ever.

As usual, only 5 or 6 ADC are relevant, the others just suck.

Thats how it works for every lane and jungle.

Hello op! I'm an adc main (Lucian Ashe most of the time, Cait Kog Varus Twitch sometimes depending on situations) and I would like to give my insight on botlane

Vayne : Very strong right now, the reason is press the attack it gives her too much power in lane and Riot decreased Q cd from 6 to 4 sec at rank 1. I suggest you ban her if you can't play Jhin. Jhin is really good against her, because he nukes every squishy way too fast, and can poke her extremely hard in lane (he's also getting buffed).

Draven: I ban him, simply because he doesn't allow you to play the lane. He deals too much damage and wins trade easily, do not pick Lucian at all costs, you have less range than him and less damage. Ashe is really really good into him, however she's not a pick suitable for solo queue.

Caitlyn: Caitlyn stopped being a lane bully ever since riot nerfed her base ad, and her lvl 1 base hp to be the worst in the game. You can't bully at all, you can poke but you lose fights way too easily.

Jinx : I have no knowledge about that champion

You said quite a few things i found confusing. Jinx dealing damage in short bursts sticking out the most, shes one of the more sustainable damage kits, idk if ur thinking just about her w-r or what. But vaynes carry potential is overrated af imo. Games are decided to early for a champ that is almost guaranteed to lose lane to be "good". Last i checked she was around a 50 w/r even though i do think her kits overtuned for what is is, she just doesnt fit into the games pacing that well. Cant check cuz im on phone, but i believe kog is out performing her, which kog is actually a better laner in the right comps than people think, and is in a bettrr spot that you imply but he is underplayed because of his unforgiving nature. Dravens the adc ive found most viable for current pacing of game as he's always been one of the strongest early/mid game adcs but now theres almost never a late game, so u dont have to pay for lack of scaling and very rarely do people play true tanks or build armor. Lucian and cait are both good with cait scaling abit better but lacking all in potential at any point of the game. Its important to note that cait is a sieging adc, which is why she so strong without ever being realistically able to duel many of the other adcs she is considered strong against. Kalista is actually viable but her kit is very anti solo q, youd only see her with a duo who has a strat in mind, or mb at high elo where u can have a reasonable expectation your supp knows how to play.

All in all i think the bot lane is decently diverse atm with them having made both crit builds and on hit builds good. My only problem with the role is still the same as its been for awhile, burst damage being high enough to one shot people even on champs stacking bruiser items invalidates the role. Even supports are stronger than adcs for most of the game, and no matter how good you are, better support/jungle wins the lane. And then with there being no late game, and pushing objectives being so easy, you never get the chance to scale to being relevant.
