Ranked in silver is the worst experience

I just cant fucking take it anymore i cant climb out of silver because all my games are literal coin flips. Silver is literally unclimable since i get apes who die once and don't know how to play from behind and keep dying. I am tired of trashing my lane only for my adc to go 0 and 12 in 5 min and afk in base(fr tho check my match history). i am tired of people picking champs they only played twice(all they need to is add min mastery to ranked). I might not be the best player but i am trying my best and i cant say the same for my teammates who literally play like its draft. Riot really needs work on the matchmaking system to keep bad players away from those improving and trying to climb.

I wish you Silver players who always complain about this had the chance to play at higher elos. You would notice right away that it does not get any better, and terrible teammates are just as common. Nothing in your post is exclusive to Silver.

I have been feeling the same way lately. I'm not saying i'm an amazing player, but I held my own and sometimes carry. Game after game I watch at least 2 other players feed +8 deaths and I just lose hope. It doesn't matter when I play mediocre, it doesn't matter when i carry 15/4. My win rate is embarrassing now after going strong forever, and I know it cant be reflective of my skill. I'm no high elo player, but I know I can play at gold/low plat level, I did all last season as Silver 1 with my friends who were golds. I guess just keep punching, try to play better, pray to LoL gods that you'll get placed with more competent players. I am still learning and hopefully improving, just gotta keep at it.

Ahahah You think it's exclusive to Silver? Even in Diamond / Master it's the same fcking fiesta. People flamming out of no where, calling for open mid or saying you're inting because you died once or twice.

It’s not matchmaking, if you’re stuck in silver that’s your own fault

I remember when I thought this. Then I got better...

If you were actually better than your teammates, you would climb easily. The problem is that you aren't as good as you think you are.

I climbed from silver4 to gold4 in 50 games with 69% wr. I didn't think it was coin flips. Maybe low elo players in oce are better than na. [sg-lulu]

Become the shotcaller. Lead your team to objectives instead of letting them do their own thing. Buy wards and secure vision around objectives. Other players are NPCs with no idea of what to do, give them directions and remember objectives matter more than kills.

I got placed in bronze 2 after placements 7-3 (Not played ranked since s4 until now) and now one week later in promo to gold, playing only support.

Most important, don't ever flame or show negative attitude towards your team. If people flame or complain about a unnecessary death, just ignore and point out the next dragon timer instead.

Now I'm not trying to be toxic here so don't get me wrong, but do you think maybe that..just maybe..you might be part of the problem?

Well i'm iron 4 right now and my ranked experience is friendly, everyone is kind and sociable. If you keep losing, then it will be more fun at least.

I have been gold and plat even... and yeah silver is bad, but so is gold. So might be an all ranking thing. But I will say silver is probably the hardest to climb in from my experience. Play the best you want, you still have 9 other people who may or may not be working as hard as you to win lol. Best you can do is not tilt them, hope your bot lane isn't the feeding lane, and push over base. Hopefully you can draw some attention and get some turret gold (this is top laner perspective lol). If your team still losing the fights and turrets its been over for awhile anyways.

At least it's better than where I am. I'm in Bronze and play almost exclusively against silver+ players (often platinum+) while losing more LP on losses than I gain on wins. And I have a friend that has the same thing happen to him.

How unbelievably fucked up does matchmaking have to be to result in a situation like this?

Currently had to make a new account, formerly diamond player for the last 3 seasons. Some thoughts on silver from my games so far:

  • Bad teammates happen with roughly the same frequency as in diamond, but the baddies die A LOT MORE. In diamond, 10 deaths by 15 minutes is practically unheard of, but in silver it seems to happen every other game.
  • Silver players aren’t nearly as bad mechanically as I remembered. Sure, you have the occasional whiff but I’m not sure whether my memory is just biased or of lower elo players have started to catch up.
  • A lot of people make stupid decisions in champ select and in-game. Look buddy, I know you really want to play Yasuo, but you have a 32% winrate on him and you’re picking us into a horrible comp. Please, just cut your losses and pick Annie or something.
  • Itemization is really, really weird. Specifically bruisers/tanks itemizing resists tend to go to either extreme of all armor or all magic resist, even against a team comp with balanced damage.
  • A lot of junglers have really inefficient pathing. In diamond I can generally guess where the enemy jungler will be based on what the optimal pathing should be. In silver, I dunno what they’re doing all game, but there seems to be no pattern to jungle pathing after the first clear, just a bunch of aimless wandering between ganks.

Yeah this season it is really bad. It's the same in Plat/Dia Amount of coinflip games is WAY higher since they fuck up matchmaking algorithm. I get all my game invites between 0 and 30 seconds instead of 1:30 - 1:40 (like in S8 and pre-season. Therefore my games are totally unbalanced.

I had a 54% winrate in Dia 4 MMR in pre-season. Now in S9 I peaked Dia-Promos a few times and dropped on Plat2 49% winrate. Its the first time I have a negative winrate in 8 years of LoL.

Nameless Drifter2/27/2019, 1:32:21 PM2 votes

Yeah...no. Solo queueing in Plat or Diamond is the worst elo to play on. Getting matched with teammates that know 0 about matchups, lane priorities, how to manage a wave....And just jump in 1vs5 like they think they are Captain America and just die. Or the blind getting caught overextending in lane, and throwing the game.

In same situation tbh. Got banned for 1 piece of bm and got placed iron 1. Climbed out of iron, bronze and out of s4 and got to silver and it is actual aids. Been looking for a duo partner for 1+ year now nothing works so im taking a looooong break from league.

excelsheet12/27/2019, 8:19:22 PM2 votes

The most pragmatic advice is to have a duo partner. At least eliminates on potential dumbass. But, you are otherwise justified in your feelings.

SomeStars2/27/2019, 8:25:02 PM2 votes

false. my draft games are better than my ranked game.

Mullaous2/27/2019, 9:23:06 PM2 votes

Play champs that thrive in chaotic environments instead of teamfights. Think champs that pick people and win 1v2+ against players with poor mechanics very easily. Also I have no idea your mechanical skill level, but play things that feel like you can actually master them, as opposed to things you can only pop off on sometimes but are inconsistent because of high skill cap. If all of that fails, duo with a jungler. I've found the biggest problem with silver is that many junglers do not perform the role for shit, and it makes it a lot more difficult if enemy jungler happens to be doing the role, while ur lee sin jungle's been clearing camps for 15 mins. I think the role's more complicated for newer players to get into is why its so bad, but it rly fk's with the balance of the game between how easily each role can carry.
