Yorick

I like him a lot he just lacks the escapes a lot of top laners have these days

He is starting to make his return.

He's been purposefully been left too weak to work well in any Meta because Riot doesn't want to support a champ that they feel is un-fun to play or play against.

Yorick does amazingly well against most champs...

Playing against a ranged champ? Max EWEWQR. Have a melee opponent? Level EQEQWR.

Against a ranged opponent you don't need to max Q early because they will just kite you, so you level EW first so that by the time you put a point into your Q, your W is high enough to slow them enough so that you can actually land your Q. Against melee opponents you don't need to level W because when they come in to CS you auto-Q them, E them if they try to trade with you, and then chase them with your Q bonus movespeed once they realize they done fucked up. You only get W at lvl 5 so that you can slow down your opponent or enemy jungler during a gank as saving mana for EQ is much more important.

The only champ that crushes my Yorick soul every time I play against them is Riven. Her kit just completely nullifies every advantage Yorick's kit gives him over his lane opponent.
