Assist- and rating system and the support role flaws
Hello everyone! I am a player who plays support as my main role in ranked games but feel that the rating system and assist system ratings should get a rework or some tweaks. In my last game (linked above) I played Bard
and noticed that I didn't get assist for long range ultimates. Isn't the stasis provided by Bard's ultimate supposed to count as a crowd control effect and give assists? This may be a bug but it is what started my train of thought, the assist system isn't very satisfying and the rating system isn't giving the supports the credit they should. As an example LeBlanc's
R-R doesn't give assists even though it decieves the opponent into possible running another way, blowing summoners etc. The assist system is very funky in my opinion.
That leads to my second thought and that is that the rating you get after a game, S rank, A- rank, are examples on those is in my opinion not showing that the support did their job great. The support is the backbone of the team's survival and is vital for the procedure of fighting in League of Legends, an example is: the support is constantly looking out for their teammate ex. the ADC (Attack Damage Carry) with heals, shields, wards, crowd control etc. In my Bard ranked game I saved my team with my abilities constantly. I know that the KDA (Kill, Death, Assist) isn't the only thing that counts when a rating is provided after a game, but there is so much more to the support role that could be taken into consideration when the rating is provided.
These are just two examples of flaws in the game that I think affect mostly the support role and that I have thought of the last days, but I also think that the support role is very diverse and varies from game to game but needs some changing to. The support role is in my opinion the most fun role and to improve it i have some suggestions (not very finalized). The suggestions are:
- The shields provided by the summoner should get a tab in the statistics shown after the game (where you can see damage dealt, healing done etc.)
- The support items (
) doesn't fit all the support champions and I suggest that you create some more, ex. one for healers like Soraka
