I dont think i have even seen the cow ap Ever like....ever Seen him build AD with a trinity force and such but ap no.

AP cow used to be OP when DFG was in the game. 4 rings, DFG->lich bane=dead mid. After you got deathcap, you could blow up another guy too before your ult ended, not to mention EQ basically being malph ult on a 10 second CD. And those heals.

ok but anyone with any sort of magic dmg could blow people up when DFG was in the game

Alistar had heavy cc loaded into it as team engage, and a range on his W that stopped most mid-laners from being able to farm. More-so with E on minions denying cs.
