Ezreal.

INTRO Okay, so Ezreal's a cool champion. He was the first champion I bought, and I love playing him when I can.

The thing is, though, is that for the longest time, he was very weak. Nowadays, Runeglaive is a thing, but they're fixing it so that you can't bring it into lane.

That being said, the weakest area of Ezreal, compared to other ADCs, as I'm sure we can all agree, is his waveclear. Jinx has her Rockets, Twitch has his W-E combo, Ashe has W, Lucian has Q, W... the list goes on and on. Additionally, all of these champs have some sort of attack speed steroid that helps them quickly clear waves without use of abilities.

The difference is, Ezreal is a spell-casting ADC, like Lucian. As such, he doesn't really rely on autos. So, what can we do to his kit to help him clear waves? (No, his Ult doesn't count as waveclear. It barely can clear waves in the first place, due to the fact that the damage decreases per minion hit. I know from experience.)

Before we answer that, we first also should take a look at his kit in general. His Q is his bread-and-butter, his damage dealer. OK. His E is a blink, albeit gated with high mana costs. OK. His Ult is global. OK. They're all pretty good abilities, and I think they're decently balanced, along with his (rather trashy) passive.

What isn't useful? His W. It does nothing but provide a small attack speed steroid for OTHER champs. To utilize the steroid yourself, you have to blow your E, and sometimes, your timing might be off, leading to two wasted abilities.

So, we have an useless W, and a lack of waveclear for our buddy Ezreal. How do we fix this?

IMO, the answer is simple. In fact, there are a lot of ways to implement waveclear. I'll propose three different "reworks" to Ezreal's kit.

IDEA ONE Ezreal's W can be toggled again while mid-flight, detonating and dealing damage. (Lux's E, except it doesn't land.) This is kinda binary, and pretty boring.

IDEA TWO Ezreal's W can be hit by his Q, detonating it. This requires more skill, obviously, but is a little bit impractical.

IDEA THREE Change Ezreal's passive. Now, at the point of impact/stopping for all of Ezreal's skills, a Trace is left behind, and stays for 10 seconds. These Traces interact with Ezreal's abilities.

Ezreal's Q absorbs Traces upon collision, amplifying the damage by a small amount and giving Attack Speed to Ezreal upon collision with an enemy minion or champion.

Ezreal's W now has no scaling, similar to Lucian's W, deals a small amount of magic damage, and lowers the enemy's resistances by some amount upon impact. It also travels the distance to Ezreal's cursor and stops there, with a max range (like Warding). Using Essence Flux on a Trace detonates it, dealing AOE damage that scales of AD.

Ezreal's E no longer deals damage, but leaves a Trace behind at the casting area. In addition, using Arcane Shift into a Trace detonates it, slowing everyone in range.

The damage on Ezreal's Ult is now reduced only when it passes through champions, not minions. In addition, it deals 400% extra to minions. Upon collision with a Trace, the damage is reset and the width is slightly widened. (Similar to Lucian's Ult, I believe.)

CONCLUSION As you can see, IDEA THREE is my favorite, mainly because it really is a rework, compared to a QOL update. In addition, it makes Ezreal a lot more fun to play, like what they're doing to Fiora, and can lead into really cool combos.

Please, if you have any criticism, leave it below; I welcome any improvements you suggest. Thanks for reading! (If you didn't want to read the wall of text, there's a TL;DR.)

Oh yeah, I'll edit this later; I'm too lazy and tired ATM.

TL;DR Ezreal is bad pls fix Rito

Ezreal's been in a fine state as of season 2...

Dunno what you have him confused for.

What people don't realize is that just because Ezreal casts spells doesn't mean he shouldn't auto attack, you use those spells for that passive attack speed. For the love of GOD, RIGHT CLICK WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING EZREAL.

I agree with your judging of Ez's W, but I really enjoy his passive. I think that a different alternative may be in need. While I think your ideas are great, I would find an outside of the box solution, combining your ideas from 1 and 3. Because Ez is able to spam W with Q, I would think that an enemy that is hit by W is slowed, and a slowed enemy receives extra damage from W. Just some thoughts
