This is your chance, Riot

Most, and by that I mean about 90% of all feedback concerning the Sightstone/Support Item changes is massively negative.

Riot, this is your chance to prove that you listen to your playerbase.

The only valid point about these changes is other roles abusing support items.

While Junglers using Frostfang has already been fixed on the PBE, we still have ADCs using Targon's.

And frankly, the only way to really prevent them that I can think of that wouldn't be hard to introduce is making the item Melee only.

But that would be unfair towards Thresh.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't mind that much as someone who has over 100K points on Thresh, because the Ancient Coin line is also a viable option on him as of right now.

Or we could make Thresh an exception and just allow him to use Relic Shield even though he isn't Melee, because let's just be real here - Thresh will never be viable in any role that isn't Support.

The first line of your post is kind of hyperbolic in the claim that 90% of players are massively against these changes. This tends to be a wall we run up against any time we try to introduce some sort of systemic change (elemental dragons, jungle plants, adjusted cs scores on jungle camps etc), where initial outcry can be quite negative, but once players have played around with the changes they actually tend to like them (now I won't say that 100% of people do, but the vast majority). The designer who's been working on the project has been doing a load of tuning to the sightstone quest reward so that it "turns on" roughly around the same time supports are buying sightstone on live. What this means is you'll have vision around the same time as usual, but will also have that 800 gold that you can put towards a more exciting purchase.

The majority of the negative pushback (which is warranted) seems to be revolving around the idea that we're doing away with the item actives which people find exciting. While it's true that we're going to be taking it off of the gold gen items, we're going to be looking for ways to re-introduce them back to the game as soon as possible, just as new items. Who doesn't love spooky ghosts?

In regards to the poaching concern - that's something we're super aware of and will be looking to actively tune if we're off. There's a change going out for relic shield to the PBE today (was supposed to go yesterday) where we're cutting the healing for ranged users in half (this does hurt Thresh so we're going to look to buff him in another way as a fast followup should he need it). We'll see if that pushes relic far enough from desirable in every game territory for marksman, but if it doesn't, we have other things we can try.

Just going to pop in here and say 90% is really inaccurate. I have been patroling the boards and reddit a lot recently about this specific issue and what I have heard is that people really like the idea it just needs some improving on before it is ready to ship in game. So hopefully rito listens to the community and pushes it back a patch then adjusts the Sightstone changes so it doesn't punish roaming supports as much then they will be great changes. Then again riot sometimes doesn't listen to their community most times because we as players don't know what is best for the game. It's their game and we are just along for the ride.

On the other hand, you now have a free Sightstone with your gold income item.

All they need to do is re-introduce Shurelias and Twin Shadows as a support item that doesn’t suck and supports can “feel good” about being able to purchase real items rather than two bootleg income items and whatever OP healing/shielding item of the patch.

I mean they spent all this time trying to convince us that the quest line and the rewards is what was right for LoL. Now that we are used to it and like it, they are taking it away for a change that really isn't as exciting kind of bland. I was one of the players who hated the rewards and how much it brought to support players, but now that I have played with it I kind of like it now. The Developers shouldn't touch anything if they are not going to bring back the item actives on new items. I mean if it is going to take them a year to bring back the item actives, this is a waste of time and they will continue to get a lot of hate. People are mostly upset they are losing the item actives on support items. 800g is not as appealing as having interaction with enemies and allies. Plus they are making it where sighstone is typical rewarded around 8 to 10 minuets when before you can buy it much earlier.

I don't like the changes for the sheer fact that they are not giving us the item actives on new items and with their track record, a year before they even think about adding them.
